If you're looking for a standard Bethesda exploration experience, you won't find it here, but you can still find fun! The exploration loop is very fun for me, but it's more akin to being a biologist collecting field samples than it is exploring ancient ruins and fighting undead for treasure and power. A lot of the time I play this game I have on a podcast or TV show in the background while I'm exploring planets and absolutely destroying the local wildlife population.

The repetitive points of interest was EXTREMELY disappointing for me, and is why it's not got a higher score. But honestly, as you get really into charting the galaxy, those points of interest end up being more like waypoints to restock your goods and conveniently get some XP while you're at it than they are things to explore. I would VASTLY prefer it if they were unique but where they are in the gameplay loop ends up meaning that it's not too much of a dealbreaker for me, at least when it comes to how I like exploring.

The writing and story is AMAZING though, oh my lord. I absolutely loved the UC, Ryujin, and main storylines, and I'm about to dive into Freestar. The voice acting is killer and once you put some points into your social tree the dialogue options open up in a REALLY fun way.

If you don't like the fact that the main 4 won't let you do evil stuff just pick up an NPC who doesn't care! Jessamine and I have done some absolutely unholy things in the far reaches of space that Constellation will never know about lol.

Good game. Bit hard to find what to do at some points, but if you interact with the paper boats or paper airplanes you should be able to figure it out.
