Team Fortress 2 is going through hard times now.

Most of all, it reminds me of an abandoned child - an unfairly abandoned child who has already grown up and reached the age of 10 :)

In general, this is my favorite first-person shooter, this is the same game where you can have so much fun. You can rest here or collect all your friends in the team and dominate the opponent. Few where else you can find such a variety of gaming techniques, modes, etc. About the gameplay itself has been much said, I want to pay attention to the other.

Back in 2007, it was something fundamentally new, it was a very fresh beginning, then there was a time of Source-based games (Portal 2, Episodes of Half Life 2 etc). At some point this game was even the top shooter from Valve (after CS: GO). Since then, a lot of time has passed, there have been many different updates, good ones, in my humble opinion, and sometimes not very good. At TF2 appeared competitors (Overwach, where without it). Since then, a lot has changed, priorities have shifted, and now the game lives out its time.

The gameplay is at its height, as always. But...

Matchmaking is terrible. It came to replace the system of auto-balance (buying tear who remembers), but it works much worse. Rankes do not affect the game in any way, and to play a few minutes match 5 vs 12 players - it became absolutely normal. Some modes have been almost completely ruined (mostly - maps from the MISC tab - sd_doomsday, plr_hightower etc). Now it's almost impossible to find a server with players there. Also, before that update you were mostly playing the game. Now you sometimes think that objective of that game is looking for loading circle and waiting for servers. Every 5-10 minutes you are going to find new server, and this requires a lot of time. Terrible.

The system of ranks was taken from CS:GO, and it is absolutely useless. Rankes have no influence whatsoever, and the casual and competitive partitioning is very conditional - noobs are everywhere, and without a team of friends, it is rather difficult to advance in the competitive mode. Also, competetive mode force people to use certain graphics settings (i.e., DirectX 9 and fixed viewmodel_fov), which is not conveniently.

VAC - this is complete nonsense. It does not work at all. On official servers, heaps of cheaters are walking (recall only varieties of "cat bots"). Sometimes it takes a lot of time to just find clean server without cheaters. The Valve has not done anything with this for several months.

I'm not talking about performance issues. I do not have the most modern computer, but not the oldest one. The rest of the games work without problems with acceptable settings, TF2 brakes like an old stump, and without special configs (especially on new maps - it's hell) that increase the frame rate, it's very hard for me to play - there are problems with optimizing performance.

All these problems for me personally greatly spoil the impression of the game. Sometimes it seems that the developers absolutely do not care about the players... After all, you could do well, Valve :(

TF2 is my favorite game. But TF2 is sick. I really hope for recovery.
