Early Access Review
This is my first review. I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to by the huge amount of negative reviews here. To be honest I'm surprised by the amount of negativity for which I feel is unfair for what I believe is an amazing game. Much of the negativity appears to be due to the games development taking a direction some don't approve of. The other seems to be down to the games performance. I must make it clear that I only play single player or multiplayer with my children so true multiplayer is something I hold no interest in & cannot comment on. This review is aimed at my single player experience of the game.

I came into the early access early in this game & have seen the game mature over the past 18 months or so & have seen the game mature, I've also seen the upset caused when major changes have been made within the game which seemed to upset many players where some even now seem to be bitter about those changes. The game was in early development & the whole point of that is to build the game making changes, trying things out, removing things that didn't work out as the developers intended. All are part of the EA process so nothing to become upset about, after all that's the reason why us EA buyers paid much less than full retail price for the game.

What some reviewers don't seem to take onboard is that the game was in development so bugs, non-optimisation & changes are there all the time. In fact some seem to be on a crusade to vote down the game because changes have been made which they don't agree with, which I feel is a little unfair on such a great game. Take note of the bad reviews & you will be missing out on what I feel is the best game available - full stop! Look at the videos & the screenshots & yes, that's how the game is!!

The game during early access could be purchased very cheap, in fact I paid the full EA price of £23.99 for the game & £14.99 for the dlc which I feel is a real bargain as I have spent well over 1000 hours playing & still intend playing many many more hours. This is something I cannot understand, I see many negative reviews where the poster has spent hundreds or even thousands of hours within the game. If the game is negative in their opinion then why have they spent so many hours playing it??? Some are complaining because the price for the released game will be £49.99, yes I agree £49.99 is a ridiculous price for many games, but not Ark, this game has so much to offer & will keep you amused for weekss/months/even years as I have found.

I have a high end PC so I experience no optimisation issues I can run the game on Epic settings & get very good fps, previously I had a low-end AMD processor system built in 2010 but with a reasonable video card & the game was still comfortably playable, settings were around mid-range & still playable. Remember though that I am talking about single player here, multiplayer maybe different?

The point of this review is to try & be honest here without the bitterness some seem to have towards the developers & the direction the game has gone which clearly doesn't sit well with some reviewers. My advice is, don't sit on the fence wondering, buy the game, try it, if you don't like it then refund it! If you pass this by then you are missing out on the greatest game that's ever been created in my opinion!

If you have a high end system then the game will run fine, if you have a low end system then be prepared to do some research within the forum & guides & you should be ok. The game is highly customisable, you can literally change anything to suit your style of play making it easier or harder depending on what you want. Start the game easy, pick an area that is marked as easy. Be aware of what is going on around you all the time, try to tame up some creatues to help protect you as soon as you are able. At first don't stray too far away from your chosen spot until you are able to defend or outrun predators (of which there are many) At first you will die a lot but each time you learn from that death. Over time you will learn to survive, when that happens you are hooked for life! My advice is to start off playing alone in single player until you have learned the game before venturing into multiplayer which I again will say that I have no experience of apart from playing locally with family.

Buy this game, if you don't you will be missing out on something very special! - be warned though, the game is huge so be prepared for a long wait for it to download. The game will also swallow up the hours so be prepared for it to take up much of your free time.

This is my first & only review, I am no fanboy nor do I have any links with the developers. I am just a normal games player who has been compelled to write this (honest) review of which I see as a fantastic game which should not be passed by. This is my experience of this great game, I'm not saying others may not have had issues but I feel with over 1000 hours playtime I am qualified to give an honest review as I see it - I have had none of what others have posted negatively about apart from the normal hiccups of an early access game which one expects when going into an alpha version of a game.

I can't wait for the full release version of this which I'm sure will hold some nice surprises :) hopefull there will still be 1000 more hours of gameplay awaiting me.

So in conclusion - The game is amazing in single player or played with family or friends locally, true multiplayer for me is unknown so I have no comment on that.

As an end note, I feel I need to say - I see many reviews complaining that the game has changed from you the player being dropped into a jurassic world, having to survive alone against a hostile jurassic world - Changed to something else that involves high tech armour, weapons etc. In single player (not sure about multiplayer). In single player, you choose how you want to play, you can stay primitive, you don't have to go down the high tech route, play the game how you want to play it!
