I'll be honest, I was a little nervous when they announced that a remake of RE4 was being in the works, especially considering how revolutionary the original game was. But after seeing the marketing for this remake and eventually playing the game itself, I can say that this remake is an absolute masterpiece. The story is more fleshed out this time around, especially since it dives deep into Leon's trauma and mindset after the events of RE2 remake. Ashley feels a lot more like a companion this time around rather than an annoying brat that constantly screams "LEON HEEEEELP!!" I also like the character dynamic of Leon and Ashley that grows as the game continues on. I think all the performances were really well done, but I think Ada could have been a lot better. Nothing against Lily Gao, the actress who played Ada, I just think the voice direction could have been a lot better which is why I hope that Lily will be given much better direction from Capcom when Separate Ways comes out.

The gameplay is some of the most fun that I have ever had from an RE title of today. While the original game still has a place of my heart game play wise, I admit that it is starting to show its age, especially with the tank controls. Now, the game play has been made in the same style as the RE2 and 3 remakes, but it has been dialed up to 11. I was playing with a keyboard and mouse when playing the demo and the main game, and after getting a grasp on how everything felt, I was quickly having fun with it. Each weapon feels incredibly good to use and the knife has been given a massive overhaul with the new parry system which felt really fun to pull off once I got some practice with it. I also think that adding a durability to the knife was a neat touch too, as it adds even more tension and decision making on managing your resources. Of course I cannot forget about the Merchant, which is just as fun as he was in the original. While I adored the original merchant's voice especially since he was played by the same actor who played Leon, this Merchant quickly grew on me as the game continued.

One of my favorite aspects of this remake is the atmosphere especially in the village part of the game. In the quieter moments of the game, I can't help but to take a minute to admire the visuals and scenery of certain areas. There's also the ambiance and atmosphere that helps build up tension and terror. There were definitely some moments in game that made me jump, but I do not want to spoil anything.

Overall, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed myself with the RE4 remake. While it is not as revolutionary as the legendary original game, the remake takes what made the original so great and expanded on it. This is an example of a remake done right, and I am looking forward to what Capcom has in store for us. Well done Capcom, thank you for giving us a fantastic game.

I highly recommend Half Life 2, along with the other half life games. This is one of the greatest fps games that I have ever played, and the story will keep players on their toes as you play.
