Early Access Review
Been playing for enough time that I feel a review is due.

Where to begin. Ah yes, with sticks and stones. Your bones may be broken by a troll early on, but once you've gotten yourself started up with a secure hut and basic resources things go by rather smoothly. As long as you're in the Meadows. I like the game for the building, and because I can tame an army of wolves to take with me, on land, or at sea. The day by day gameplay and the weather changes are neat, having to adapt to the elements brings on a challenge some other games don't offer. Decorating your hut is fun, mounting troll heads or your favorite weapon above your bed is sure to give other players something to think about.

I've yet to try PvP but it's just not something I'm interested in for this game. PvE and teamwork is definitely the way to play. especially when you have a horde of 30 fulings all chasing you, trying to set you aflame. Plus, having a team or small community makes it so you can each focus on specific resources or enemies to farm to get well equipped faster. Or, if you're the builder of the group, send everyone out to collect wood and stone so you can sit in your castle and gaze upon the land you've spent two hours terraforming.

All in all, a good PvE experience. Realistic (somewhat) architectural engineering, fun melee and archery engagements (leaping off a cliff to stab a Drake in midair), sailing like classic Vikings, and pillaging Draugr and Fuling encampments. I give Viking Simulator a 10/10 for combat, building, and slaving away at mining resources to smelt into refined metals.

Just watch out for the Deathsquitos, they see you when you're sleeping. So does Odin as he watches you from a distance. Look out for falling trees!

Good ol' classic.
