Crusader Kings II is a grand strategy game from Paradox Interactive, a company that focuses on strategy games. From my somewhat limited experience, I have had a lot of fun, predominantly in a multiplayer setting.

You can choose to play as a ruler of a nation, or city, or hamlet, depnding on how difficult you would like the game to be. There is no true objective to the game, but the fun is in making objectives for yourself. For example: "Maybe I will press my claim against this neighboring territory to become their ruler", or "I shall plot to assassinate the pope."

There is a sharp difficulty spike you will need to overcome because the tutorial can only help so much, however, once you figure out your bearings, you will learn to do things you did not think were possible four, five, even ten hours prior.

All in all, CKII is a staple for strategy enthusiasts, and a fun (albeit difficult to first pick up) experience for anyone.

Also, there are some sweet mods.
