Yep, fun game. It's a dungeon of problems that get worse in real time, go solve 'em all.

I've been playing Soldak games since I was 3, so they fall into the category of "I normally wouldn't enjoy this, but I've been indoctrinated from a young age to enjoy them," and Zombasite specifically is one that I've recently gotten obsessed with.

Soldak games are ARPG Hack 'n Slashes with the caveat that time is important — if you don't stab that named monster soon enough, it is going to cause more problems. These problems could take the form of an uprising of X monster in an area of the world, an assassin being sent to your town, a weather machine being built to hinder you, and these problems can and will cause even more problems if you don't take care of them in time. That assassin may not just murder people, but also cause an infestation of bugs that hinder the food supply, that uprising of monsters can lead to them spreading to even more areas of the world, and that weather machine can inspire other monsters to build unique machines of their own.

In Zombasite, not only do you play the game mentioned above, it is the zombie apocalypse, and you have to ensure that your clan (town) doesn't perish while also dealing with the aforementioned zombie apocalypse and all of the additional problems it brings. There are also X amount of other clans that may/may not have a functioning moral compass that you may/may not have the gear and resources to get into a war with.

If any of the above sounds interesting to you, go try it out. It's $20, goes on sale to as low as $5 sometimes, and even has a demo. If it seems overwhelming to you, that's because it probably is, and in that case I'd recommend trying out Din's Curse, which is a better starting point for getting into Soldak games in my opinion. The gimmick of that game is you have to solve all of a town's problems, with all of those problems being in one multi-layered dungeon below the town, instead of spread out across the world.

A $1 boss rush game that is FAR too high quality for the price (seriously this is worth $5 minimum wtf are you doing lemon). It does have one big problem though — the egg physics are too fun, you WILL struggle to focus on fighting pete and instead ping pong the egg around for 20 minutes straight before your ADHD will let you play the game.

You go fast, shoot fast, think fast, and kill fast, will satiate your ADHD and act as a replacement for your adderall.
9.5/10, get it if you want to be a fast little supersoldier gremlin.

I've poured about ~700 hours into Vermintide 2, and while Darktide is fun, I can't say I prefer it to it's predecessor. The viewmodel animations are not as quality, everything that you do can be delayed and feel worse to do depending upon your connection to the server, and (in my opinion) there's not a very substantive endgame goal that isn't just "grind to get better gear" — it doesn't feel like there's anything I'm really working towards accomplishing by getting that better gear. Beating every map on Damnation isn't difficult for me, and difficulties above that rely on RNG modifiers that make it difficult for me to create a goal to achieve in terms of beating every map on the hardest difficulty.

Of course, I've still poured over 100 hours into this game, so I've clearly enjoyed a lot of my time with it. Half of these complaints are just a result of me having a lot of experience in a similar game, and the last complaint is just about the endgame not being fulfilling — I still had a lot of fun up until I hit the level cap and got gud to the point where stuff isn't challenging to me anymore.

TLDR: You're probably gonna enjoy Darktide. Most of my complaints stem from me being an old fart who wants to be like an older game. Buy it, it's still good.

Caught 2 guards with torches in beartraps, killed them both, they fell over with the torches, one torch lit an explosive barrel, it exploded and I died.

10/10

It may have a 60 FPS cap and some questionable mouse and keyboard support in a few menus, but the actual game itself is the second coming of Jesus Christ and the biggest issue from that is a few of the clones are gonna be mediocre.

Gameplay wise, the combat is basic with enemies and their attacks being very quiet and hard to notice, but easy to dodge, which leads to most damage coming from ambushes and enemies I didn't know were there. It's also very easy, I was barely struggling on the hardest difficulty while ignoring almost all of the magic spells on my first playthrough. The aesthetic of the visuals look like default unreal engine 4 visuals, which is every surface is wet with a lot of bloom on anything that gives off light. Some rooms are also pretty empty with not much decoration in them which makes them feel little more than cubes.

TLDR: Needs some more time in the oven to improve on the core aspects of itself.
