Betrayer is a first person adventure game mainly in black, white, and red which sets in 17th century. You'll arrive in a land lacking of people and you'll have to find out what happened in that place. Although the game starts in black, white, and red, it can be adjusted to color, although imo, it's easier to play it in default color.

This game's bgm gives off eerie vibe with some environmental sfxs such as rustling grass and breezing winds. Some sfxs can surprise you with its sudden noise, especially when it's combined with the eerie graphics. Personally, i think that this game's music is one of the best part of the game.

Although the game doesn't have an AAA style graphics, the black, white, and red color gives of an eerie atmosphere perfectly. However, i have to admit that the graphics look weird after you change the default color to a more colorful setting. The in game text might be quite small, although it's still readable.

The game has a separate story in each area, although the story in the last few areas stay connected with each other. The game mainly tells about betrayals which are done by the people living in the area, which are resulting in death. There are also some clues which are written in a piece of paper about anything that happened in the area. This game doesn't have a fixed ending which makes you to have to interpret the ending and some part of the story by yourself.

You'll arrive in a land with no people and all you have in your hand is a bow. The game will start teaching you a few controls, although it missed some controls, such as the sniper mode which is initiated with right click. Although the game teaches you some of the game controls, i ended up forgetting most of it.

You can do stealth kills in this game which can be either done from close or afar. There are some items which can help you to not getting noticed by your enemies and there is also a wind which will help you to blend in with the surroundings.

In this game, you'll mainly collect some things in the area and kill some enemies. Most of the area requires you to do the same thing which can make the game quite boring.

The game environment is very gloom and dark, which sometimes can surprise you when something shows out of nowhere. The battle sfx can also surprise you, although you'll get used with it in no time.

Because you'll mainly use long ranged weapons in this game, ammos can be quite costly. I didn't know that you can get some ammo by dying, which will help me to upgrade my weapon instead of spending the cash for ammo. Some of the ammo that you are using will also remains the area, although sometimes the ammo will stuck in some places which makes you have to rebuy the ammo.

I experienced some frame skips in this game. It's quite annoying, especially when you want to snipe the enemies from afar. The mouse also runs slowly and i'll get more frame skips if i try to make it faster. The game also loads very slowly when it's transitioning from and to areas. The game lags after i'm alt tabbing and it will be not responding if i'm alt tabbing for too long. The weapon can also fire randomly by itself when you change maps.

There are 5 kinds of weapons in the game, which are crossbows, shortbows, longbows, guns, and muskets. All of them have their own strengths and weaknesses which can be covered with charms, tomahawk (mid range single targeted weapon), explosives (mid range area targeted weapon), and melee attacks (which is mainly used for stealth kills). The charms can give you some buffs, such as health boost and movement speed boost. There are 3 unique weapons for each type of weapons which can be considered as ultimate weapons. All of them has different stats which can be chosen based on your play types.

This game is focused on two worlds, this world and the other world, where the spirits resides. You'll have to travel between both worlds to uncover the mystery in the land you are in.

Lastly, you can adjust this game difficulty with 3 difficulty settings in the options, with normal being the default.

I actually want to recommend this game, but this game has nothing to offer besides the eerie atmosphere. Although the story might be interesting, the game play doesn't really satisfy me very much. You can get boring after you traverse through several areas because you have to do the same thing in each area. The technical issues i'm experiencing also gives another reason for that.

However, if you want to play a thriller game with no jumpscares in it, buy this game.
