The GP-38 is one of my all-time favorite locos. Although I mostly see Norfolk Southerns in my hometown, I've come to adore the BN/BNSF liveries as well.
This DLC seems to be of higher quality than some of the other sets that I've downloaded lately. Although there aren't any flashing ditchlights, the headlights (and the beacon light on the BN livery) work perfectly. Driving the GP-38 at night is as much a joy as in the daytime, since the headlights cast plenty of light. Truthfully, I wish some of the other content developers would follow suit, and fix this particular issue on their own locomotives.
From what I remember as a kid, the engine sounds are accurate. I used to enjoy listening as the GP-38 ramped up before getting on down the line after it finished its swticher duties.
Although this loco is underpowered when compared to icons like the SD40, SD70, it's still a pleasure to operate. I don't know how BN did things back in the day, but I remember seeing NS consists being lead by 4 of these locos on a regular basis. Although they never quite got to the length of today's trains, they did haul some impressive consists.
All in all, I'm glad I got this DLC. I highly reccomend it, especially if you're a BN/BNSF fan. I mainly got this to round out my BN/SF collection for Marias Pass and my upcoming purchase of the new Stevens Pass route. I'm coming to find that I enjoy operating the GP-38 every bit as much as I do the larger loco's in my stable.
Highly recommended.

Parkles is right. Growing up in Seattle, I didn't even know flashing ditch lights existed on freight locomotives until I saw a video of a CSX locomotive with them. Only CSX and NS have them.

The BNSF GP38-2's didn't have flashing ditchlights though. They're all static, non-flashing.
