Do you like Car Seat Headrest? Their early work was a little too “Lo-fi” for my liking, but when Teens of Denial came out in 2016 I think the band really came into their own commercially and artistically.

The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They’ve been compared to The Strokes but I think Toledo has a far more authentic approach to music.

In 2016 they released Teens of Denial. I think their undisputed masterpiece has to be Destroyed by Hippie Powers, a song so catchy most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics, but they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of friendship but it’s also a song about contemporary issues such as recreational drug culture.
