It's been a long time since I've written a true review for any of the games still in my library, but I think this bears mentioning.

Warframe is an excellent game. Yes, it's grindy. Grindy, grindy, grindy. Grinding isn't always fun, but shredding through hordes of enemies with a luxurious variety of weapons and abilities isn't only entertaining, it's weirdly therapeutic. The story missions are excellently crafted, well-choreographed, and emotional, and when the next chapter in the story comes out I'll be on to play it as fast as I was to play The Sacrifice, and before that, The War Within. My earliest memories of playing Warframe with a squad of my buddies are some of my fondest memories from any game I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

So what is it that, after many hours of grinding and shredding and crafting, has ostracised me from playing this game casually? It's simple: the staff team.

I've never had a problem with staff before but I've seen enough from other people. Bannings left and right for very trivial offenses. If you upset the sensibilities of any particular staff member, you will be banned, and every account you ever make will be banned. If you attempt to resolve the situation with the support team, you will either be ignored, receive a rude response, or (most likely) be banned from that too. I am somewhat nervous writing this review that I will be banned for saying these things, though I am by no means the first to say them.

DE unfortunately doesn't realise that permanently ostracising a player with thousands of hours, who has willingly spent a lot of money on a free game where everything can technically be done legit, is akin to sawing off their own fingers. Punishments are necessary for chat rule breaches, and bans are inevitable in any game, but in Warframe, there's no distinction between a normal player and a permabanned ex-supporter who has lost potentially hundreds of dollars because of one upset staff member. (From what I've seen, this sum of money is often far greater, especially amongst veteran players.)

Put shortly, Warframe is sadly an example of an excellent, well-concocted game with hours of love put into it, which has been inadvertently destroyed by the dictations of the staff team who will permaban a player who has been supporting the game for five years because they said something which upsets them.

Look at my hours. Compared to many, I'm somewhat new to the face of Warframe, and I can't even begin to explain how irritating it is that I now can't happily play this nugget of gold in the ♥♥♥♥-pile of Free-to-Play games. But I can't willingly support a system which supports no-warning permabans, favouritism, and absolutely zero support from anybody, anywhere in the staff ranks, because of a few choice words and upset sensibilities.

What a waste.
