Feels more like a short, interactive, arcadey war documentary, while story and details are in depth the gameplay feels lacking. The first missions has decent pacing and immersion as you go around to prepare the aircraft with puzzles, but when it comes to air combat, it felt really short, and the ballistics are plain hitscan. Even the Ju-88 requires several seconds of magdumping particularly into the engines head on. And for the entire section there is little stress induced from taking damage. Also, using the Halifax.... as a GUNSHIP???? Being able to blow up an entire frigate ship or a Wirbelwind SPAA with just some Vickers machine guns, is just strange as hell. For the act of flying low and providing CAS thats debatable, might be up to Smigol's alley though.
Then came the last act. It's probably the only level that you can fail because of mines and being detected. The stealth section in the last act was odd, whereas the environment felt too bright that i thought any Kraut should have spotted me miles away but what do I know.
The English voices sounded more like translators in documentaries than actual soldiers and pilots at war. The subtitles during the last few acts became less consistent with the dubbed voicelines. Then again, this is a game by educational groups so asking for these is too much.
The only reason to replay this afaik is to get every achievement, and have a look at the small details; whichever comes first.

Recommended for those who are interested in the details of the Halifax, WWII stories, especially the small, more personal experiences from actual vets, god bless. Not recommended for those wanting good gameplay, and immersive, heart gripping storytelling.

6/10 Cans of Fray Bentos. For a fat 20GB game its free by the very least.

So. BHM is now playable on Steam/PC without the need of emulators.

What do I like about this?
More control choices. Controller for the classic arcade cabinet nerd or any sort of controller people try with, Keyboard for the Touhou weebs (no offense, i like 2hu too), Mouse for anything close to the good old phone controls... or play using drawing tablets. You also get to play with any loadout without IAPs and instantly hop into Extra/Challenge mode with fully upgraded gear and aim for the leaderboards.

What do I NOT like about this?
Unlike in the App Store where it's free to download, the Steam version requires you to buy (as seen in the store page), and if you are a long-time player on the mobile versions, you cannot sync data into this one. Shouldn't be much of an annoyance however, the price is okay enough and it takes little time to unlock challenge/extra modes if you can't be bothered with the Chapter modes. Finally, there is much of getting used to the new controls since it's different from the mobile version.

For any upcoming, curious souls who stumble upon this game
Minimalistic, abstract, fast paced. A simple game that wants nothing but your skill to dodge bullets and imagine the story for it. Made by a single dev. Def recommend.

Post Scriptum

I'll be waiting for Black and Finale as well. Also, how much do I pay to have Ito-sensei to make a Eurobeat remix of a song?

Basically Xiao Xiao and Smash Bros' child. May have a few bugs but still fun, especially if you have friends to play with
