The Long Dark is one of those games where you can just lose yourself. The worries of the day are drowned out by the howling of the frozen wind and the rattle of its claws against whatever shelter you find. With a beautiful art style that allows for some of my favourite visuals (the starkness of the white mingling with the often vibrant colours of the dawn and dusk) you will find it hard not to be in awe at the finely crafted landscapes of the setting. I've only played the story mode, but just from my experience in that alone I would highly recommend this game to anyone that likes to immerse themselves in a game world. If its cold outside or its the perfect lazy day, this is a good game to play to distract you.

I gotta say, I love this game. I'm not very good at it, but I love it. The infantry may feel similar in the regard of troop types (which some may dislike) but that is purposeful (And there are differences to the weapons the different faction's infantry wield). But where the big difference lies is the Mechs. If you like Diesel punk then this game is most certainly for you, smoke spewing Mechs ripping through buildings, unabashed by such petty mortal things such as the infrastructure of the city they are meant to take, The Polanian Mechs quickly out maneuvering the enemy, Rusviet Mechs aggressively stomping after the terrified foe, and the bulky Saxonian Mechs holding firm against the pathetic waves of inferior engineered mechs (I'm not faction biased I swear). Its heaven for those that like such Aesthetics. Of course, like most RTS games it requires some learning to get great at. But with patience even I was able to get better at my favourite faction, mighty Saxony. There is a lot of criticism over the game being made better over weekly updates, but what one must remember is that a lot of game developers are doing this now, they adapt their updates to what the player base wants, they also do regular tweaks to the balancing to ensure that everything feels fair. (Take that Rusviet Vanguard). So in conclusion, I would recommend this game for its setting, its awesome models and its game play.
