Neon Blight: A review by some dude

My initial thoughts on the game is that it's very enjoyable and something to get lost in if you enjoy a fairly easy grind. The enemies feel fair to fight, even when there are a decent number of them due to the solid power-ups (especially coffee) you can loot/purchase from around the world. The atmosphere is definitely befitting of the electric dystopia that is the cyberpunk style and I'm a big fan of the art for the game. The store-management portion feels like a mini-game/side hustle but is beneficial to pushing yourself forward to advance, as well as being very simple to grasp and easy to run. I also think speedrunners may get a kick out of the game. There's also an active discord server to chat about your runs and show off what you've accomplished.

On the flipside though, I wish I had slightly more guidance with the quests you receive, maybe some kind of journal or an expandable map. The player feedback on taking damage is a little lackluster and I have died wondering where and when I had got hit by an enemy attack. There are a few bugs but it's to be somewhat expected however the discord is very active and has channels to show anything you find.

Overall, a solid game that I look forward to sinking more time into and would definitely recommend to those who are looking to get into rogue-lite style games. Big love from me <3

A seemingly long game that doesn't require much interaction if you choose to play that way. Watching as time slowly speed up as I gathered and discovered new items and places of interest felt rewarding. There were some challenges along the way and while I'd recommend playing it blind, I wouldn't hesitate to get some help either if you need it. Took me about 2 months with 48 active hours. Give this game a shot and if you don't enjoy it, just return in a year or so.
