I'm going to be writting this review in 2 parts: The basic review and one that is comparing the current version to the BETA one.

America's Army Proving Ground is an amazing tactical FPS shooter that is availible for free since you can actually call it FREE. There is no such things as in-game currency and Ranks are only to show how far and hard you've been playing. All weapons are availible to you the moment you enter the training grounds (Yay! Tax money being put to work!) and the only things you are working to earn (NOT BUY) are ranks, additional scope, and weapon skins. As for the community, they are more often friendly enough, but there are still rotten apples. I won't be discussing the mechanic and gameplays since I did play BETA, but it is definately not a CoD game so team play do matter and that has yet to change. Overall, if you're just starting and you like tactical FPS, I'm sure you will like this. If you're from BETA coming back, please read on.

So compared to BETA, this game went down hill hard. Overall, I've been playing a good 1000 hours of BETA AAPG and it was the best free tactical FPS I could ask for. How so though? Well for one, a good majority of the BETA community was really disappointed during Opt-in for the release which question us for many reason. First off, the big change for us. We liked the HUD change since it looks advanced compare to the old one, but I think the health percentage and the character's current position statues could have stayed (I had to stand up and crouch down again sometime to be sure I'm crouching) but they are not big game changers. Graphic is a plus, nothing more. Some maps look more well designed and little details made it look so much better. The enemies' guns that were hyped for a long in BETA was on point and it is really satisfying that they add it. The new scopes and weapon skins came as a surprise but those are also a plus since it add more variety to the game. So why did BETA hate it that when they release the finished version? The answer to all of that was in the moment they announced the Opt-in. I may be wrong, but I think BETA is for testing the game for the release. So why was the Opt-in necessary? For one, you changed the game so much, it might as well be another one. The first thing BETA hated in the Opt-in was the sound. The gun shots will give you head aches. BETA sounds were fine and not as confusing, so to many of us, it was unreasonable to change it. To make matters worse was the change in the guns. This is what mainly broke the game. Sway, recoil and damage were reconfigured in the Opt-in that it basically made you feel like AAPG BETA was never there. M4 recoil was reduced but so was the damage. SAW's recoil increase with the damage and the spread. Even the little small changes in the guns like the sway of the M24 affected every game play let alone trying to withstand the grinding awful sound. So if you're from BETA, don't expect anything to be the same. The BETA community was very nice and everyone was friendly with some rivalry and now with over half of them gone with the release of this game, more rotten apples are joining and everyone will be either convinced you are hacking because someone either accuse you or the admins are sure you are and some will kick you without warning, simply because you know the map and the guns which lead to you beating them. Of course you can play official, but it's not like BETA where you have 4-5 official servers that are not filled. Ever since the majority of the BETA left, you're probably going to find maybe 2 official servers on and 7 non-official servers compare to BETA's 20+ non-official servers filled.

I still play AAPG for the respect I had for the game in BETA that simply disappointed everyone. If you haven't play AAPG, I'm sure the game is still very enjoyable for you, and that is why I would recommend the game still. However, the truth is that this game was better and this feeling is like going to AA3 from AA2.
