Friend bought for me for $15 (Summer Sale). I told him that I appreciated the gesture, but the entire time, I just wish I had spent the couple nights that we played this playing BattleBit instead. He couldn't see how I could enjoy a game that looks like Roblox CoD when this game *looks* way better. At some point, he must have seen how many hours I was putting into the game and made the purchase himself. We haven't played 2042 since.

Addictive and humorous gameplay, excellent music, charming art style, funny little story. +1 for Deck compatibility as well! I'm looking forward to seeing myself with 1000 hours someday, maybe more

TLDR: IW was my last bastion for good CoD games, but Activision's got too much say in how the ball should roll. The focus isn't on MP anymore, it's Warzone. If you're not interested in Warzone, don't bother.

What should have been a sequel to MW19 turned into the grinder for the battlepasses or to grind weapons for Warzone. Everything feels as generic as usual, except for the operators, but who cares? Don't care for the maps (save for Farm 18) and don't care for the customization. Some weapons have duplicate attachments that offer no benefit to use. Some descriptions are incomplete. The menus are god awful. The game has massive framerate issues when the pre-game timer starts up until the match timer begins. The list of disappointments goes on.
The definition of "pubs" is essentially dead in CoD, with b2b2b2b2b ultra competitive lobbies. It's only the 4th week since launch, and the only reason I decide to boot up the game anymore is to play with friends.
Story is okay, for the most part. Soap and Ghost missions kick the most ass, but I still wouldn't have paid $70 for it alone. It's time I moved on from this series.

There's a lot of bug fixes/potential QoL changes that I would like to see. Here's a few off the top of my head:
Being able to pass through allies straight out of spawn.
Prevent respawning under the world
Fix Coxwell Attackers being unable to win
Some form of Autobalancing that doesn't split parties
Being able to join a friend's game and joining their party without forcing everyone to back out
Prevent friendly fire if the damage dealt would be fatal
Less clunky combat (attacks that look like they would hit just sometimes don't)
Fix XP being lost (my vanguard loadout lost 2 levels between games, for no reason)

Love the game, but it can be frustrating, sometimes.

It's crazy how the other big-name shooters were DOA, this season. 343 was handed a cakewalk, and then they slammed Infinite out of the park. It's just that MS got too greedy with this one, and it's an absolute dam shame.

Repentance is worth double it’s price just for the removal of closet boss rooms and the old Curse of the Maze alone, which imo balances out the increased difficulty. All the new content is a bonus.

Proof that you can do advance movement in a first-person shooter and people will love it.

Do yourself a favor. Have "Overture" ready to play as soon as you're about to join a match. With the combination of the game and song, you won't be able to see a dam thing that's going on. Those are tears blocking your vision. It might seem like a problem, but you'll come to realize that it doesn't matter, because all of the good memories are coming back to you, and you're already having the time of your life.
