Planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ was quite short visual novel compared to others (only 5 hours long) but it was a sad one.
It didn't end happily it ended right at Hoshino Yumemi's death while there were death warmongers incoming to his location.
In a post-apocalyptic world there was nothing left after the 30 year war, only ruins and few survivor scavengers and Death bots made by humans themselves.
Overpopulation and depletion of natural resources lead the world to a nuclear war and destroyed half of the humanity, then after a year it was halved and again and again and again.
Until there were very little people left and struggling to even just survive.
Big powers who started the war didn't exist anymore.
Then, the rain started which did not end, killing even more people.
It poisoned plants, making it impossible to farm food and even killing the man made bacteria.
Trying to live in mars failed to succeed as it was found not habitable.
The chance for humankind to survive are slim.

It perfectly fits the story.

To conclude, this game is amazing visual novel made by KEY.
And I recommend buying this visual novel.
