I would like to start by saying Starbound is a wonderful game. Worth the money.

This is my first review done for a videogame. I started playing back in Early Access. This was before dungeons and NPC quests. TBH the game was great before such content became available, I was content just being thrown into a unviverse with nothing to go on other than survive/explore/crafting. Since then the game has made so many great improvements!

A quick start guide for the newbies. Open ship locker before beaming down to planet and loot the useful items/torches/canned food. When you beam down immediatly cut down some trees. You can craft the wood into timber. Use timber to create crafting table and a wooden door. Night will come soon meaning more randomly generated baddies. Now is a great time to dig a hole and make your first shelter. I like to find an area with cobblestone to carve my shelter out of because cobblestone is used for crafting stone furnace. While digging keep an eye out for vines, sever them at the roof of the caves and collect the plant fibers, they are used for bandages and fabric. Also look for minerals such as iron, coal, copper. After you have cleared out a small space for a shelter, place your wooden door in the entrance of your space. Set up a campfire and you have your first mining camp setup! Wait out the rest of the night by finishing building your furnace and clothspinner. Build a bed if you have materials for one. Beds can be used to heal yourself. By the time the next day arises you should be ready to venture out into the world and explore!

One more helpful hint. By pressing Shift or Ctrl while using the Matter Manipulaor lets u manipulate background objects and change the manipulators point size, respectively. I did not know this for the longest time....
