I have been playing this game on a non dedicated server with my little brother and having a lot of fun.
I would recommend boosting the settings though because ark is a game in which the base settings really don't respect your time. we just tamed two tech rexes and we haven't had so much fun in a long time playing games together. i would recommend this game. even in single player, its fun. it is more fun with friends though.

some issues i found so far:
in some area's of the map, other players on the map keep getting teleported back to me like the tether range is really small. i purposefully set the range to 99 times the origional so we can play as freely as posilbe. i have a theory this is because we are close to caves, but i still need to confirm that.
