A lovely little walking simulator. It's not long by any means, but it is worth playing at least once.

For me, it seems like the only appeal was the frustration that it gave me.

So I got this game as part of the Humble Bundle, and there's some things to note about this game that is part of an experience that I won't really understand.

First of all, this game is not for everyone.
There is no tutorial to help you in the beginning so you often are fumbling through which card does what whenever a new card is available to you.

I spent so much time trying to end debts and notoriety because I didn't know you could actually counter it so I just stalled for the most part until it ended (which was like 600 seconds btw).

I gained a lot of money, and I wasn't even sure how to win at first, because I would go on an expedition, get some reward, have notoriety and repeat the process not really sure how to progress.

It came to a giant stall, because it felt like there was just so much to manage.

Also, I understand now after looking for help that followers can do things, but honestly the UI makes it a bit difficult for me to tell what their "primary" attribute is, because it's not like you can be able to choose anyway and it seems like all of mine had a little bit of every stat.

By the time I committed to talking with one of them, it apparently wasn't the right follower I needed, so I have no idea what the bottom stats are supposed to mean still.

All and all, it's a "fun" experience for some to have moments of genius while moving through frustration, but not for me because it makes me feel as if I was wasting my time instead.

You know, looking at all of these negative reviews it seems they judge the whole game as "bad" even though it is through one experience.
So please take these reviews with a grain of salt.

Here is my take on it,

Town of Salem is a unique game in that you play as a certain role that has a certain ability to be able to deduce who is with or against you.

Not good with full page reviews though, so I'll just do this like an FAQ

Q: "Is it Hard?"
A: It's hard if you don't know what you are doing. If you don't strategise your rhetoric in a way that sounds convincing it can be a quick game against your favor. Some roles have a "ONLY I MUST WIN" like the werewolf (and there can only be one werewolf per game) that requires you to conceal yourself even in times of stress. You may fake a will/role just to buy yourself time, but if you expect Town of Salem to be based on a chance of luck then you're overstating this game.

Check the Wiki, it has great tips you can use!

Q: "I see so many complaints on how there are gamethrowers, swearers, and frequent profanity, is this true?"
A: It would be wrong to say ALL games are like that, but there can be some bad apples in a game. There always are, in every game.
But you know what you can do instead?

/mute *playername* (hides their chat/spam)
Report a Player (For being so foul)

Q: "Is there replayability in this game?"
A: Yes, you don't get to pick your role (You can however increase your chances of getting a role by buying a scipt). And you'll always be playing against a different queue (Unless you manage to have a large party, which is an obvious exclusion.)

Q: "But.... it's the same gamemode though, right?"
A: Yes and no, you can choose different gamemodes that have a different set of rules. Or if you really don't care you can just join a server that randomly picks roles (all any) or set up your own custom rolelist (if you are the host).

TL;DR This game is a little challenging and has a bit of a learning curve, but is rewarding. Rule-breakers can be reported (And is backed by a community of community judges via the Trial System). It is fun to play alone, but it is always great with friends.

Game is great to pickup, very colorful and lively and always keeps you on your toes (especially if you are playing at a harder difficulty)!

The only neutral critique I have is that it is a little bit kiddish with some childish jokes, but I could see how this would appeal to a younger audience
