Very Challenging. This game surprisingly requires skill o.o

Seeing lots of bad reviews about this game on Steam and thought I'd put a more helpful one. I've played this game since '09 (It being released in '08)(Downloaded via the Football Superstars Website).

Football Superstars is a Third Person Sports MMORPG where you live out the life of a footballer. Unlike other Football MMORPGs (Mainly Fifa) you do not control all the players on the pitch. You control a single player and all other players in your team are controlled my other real people. The point of the game is to level up and rise through the ranks. There are two types of levelling in this game: Player Level and Fame Level. The player level is the level your player is at with the level cap being 100. You get promoted to a new division after a certain level. Amater League: 1-10, Division 4 10-25, Division 3 25-50, Division 2 50-70, Division 1 70+. The Fame Level is the amount of fame you have. The higher your fame, the more XP and money you earn from playing matches. You increase your fame by playing matches, buying drinks from the bar and buying clothes from the numerous amounts of stores located in the world. This gives you fame points which you spend in interviews to increase your Fame Level (Also known as Fame Grade). There are three types of interviews: Newspaper, TV and Radio and the highest Fame Grade you can reach is: International Superstar.

You have two types of Currency in the game: Football Superstar Dollars(FSD) and Football Superstar Credits(FSC). FSD is earned from playing matches and you have to go through micro-transactions to buy FSC or you can win it by participating in tournaments with your "Player Managed Club"(I'll go into this in more detail later) held by the Moderators and Admins. FSD can be used to buy Items for your character as well as clothes to wear out in the world, to buy drinks for fame and to train your character. As you level up Items and Training your character becomes more exspensive. FSC can also be used to do this but most people use FSC to buy the better items in the game and to train their character. When you get to Division 1 investing in some FSC will go a long way as many players in that division are wearing items that can be only bought with FSC.

There are also Skills you can buy that can boost your character in-matches: Actives, Passives and Uniques. Active skills have to be activated during the match and they give your character a boost in certain stats for a small amount of time. Passives are always on during matches and Uniques are special skills that can be used during matches for example: Overhead Kick, Rainbow Flick, Reverse Rainbow Flick, Scoop, Drag Back Turn, Cryuff Turn, 360, Step-Overs and so on. The first tier of most all skills can be bought with FSD. After that you need to pay FSC to buy them and of course, they get more expensive as you buy more tiers.

Now the bread and butter of this game has to be Player Managed Clubs. These are clubs... managed by actual players... This is where all the hard work on the pitch pays off and you get invited to join a PMC. PMCs compete and play against one another for bragging rights, trophies and FSC prizes. This is when the game becomes absolutely fun as you meet people who create tactics and are extremely helpful. There were a lot more PMCs before the game was released onto Steam and as the years have gone by this has lessened but there are still quite a few PMCs out there who are very active and well known.

Items that you use in-game: Boots, Base Layer, Studs and Shinpads are tiered. Green, Blue, Purple, Gold and Legendary. Green being the lowest and cheapest tier with obviously the lowest stats. Blue being mid tier and a bit more expensive (Can only be bought with FSC). Purple: top tier and the most expensive and can only be bought with FSC. Gold: Can be won in-game by buying Pizza from the Domino's Store, also given out to winners of tournaments or competitions. Legendary: These items are the best items in the game. At level 100 they offer you +300 on nearly every stat that is linked to that specific item (Boots: Movement Rate, Kicking Power, Anticipation. Studs: Interception, Kicking Accuracy, Pass Timing and Jumping. Base Layer: Stamina and Recovery Rate. Shinpads: Ball Control, Hardiness, Tackling and Slide Tackling.) So they are pretty OP. Can only be acquired via extremely special tournaments (Like World Cups, Euros or any other International or National Tournament) and as of recently, via the Superstars League website for a hefty price of about £9-11 per item with their being a limited stock of about 5 per item.

Pros
Easy to learn controls (Move with WASD, Rotate Camera with Mouse. Shoot/Tackle with Left Mouse Button. Slide with X or Spacebar.)
Sort of steep learning curve (The controls are easy to learn but you'll find players are able to do extremely fancy tricks as you reach Division 1 with just the mouse or WASD.)
Tight Knit Community (Nearly everyone knows everyone. Doesn't mean to say they all like each other).
Player Managed Clubs - Tactics, Their Own Kits, Very VERY fun.
Moderator Run Tournaments - FSC Prizes, Special Items.
Unique Skills - If you pull them off, they are amazing and great fun to use. Not very useful but extremely fun.
Can run on almost any computer

Character Models (The male and female Faces look... silly)
FSD becomes useless after reaching level 90 or so. (You make more than you'll ever need to spend. I have two characters and between them I have 38 Million FSD with nothing to spend it on other than clothing items.)
Have been instances of people cheating but the Moderators and Admins dealt with this amazingly.

To summarise: this game has massive potential but is lacking in development and investement at the moment. The community has been keeping this game going for 6 years now and I can't see it dying any time soon. There is quite abit of a learning curve and like in all games you meet players who you either love or you hate. Many of the reviews of this game are ones of playing in the lower divisions but if you can just fight your way through that and reach the top, the game becomes a whole lot more fun. (Amateur, Division4 and Division 3 are terrible to play in nowadays. Players are clueless or extremely selfish. Division 2 is full of childish people but is a lot more fun to play in but Division 1 is where all the real action is at and can be extremely overwhelming at the start.)

Once you start playing this game you will be hooked. However with all its current cons I give it a:
