I really wish I could recommend this. There was amazing potential here. But it completely failed for 2 reasons
- The controls suck. Which would be bad enough on it's own, but it's even worse when the game is extremely difficult and punishing. Mixing those things together leads to just such a frustrating experience, where even once you get really good at the game, you'll still keep dying every now and then on regular basis, except it'll be due to those slippery, unpolished controls, instead of you making a mistake and paying a deserved price. I have to imagine it wasn't intentional, they just didn't give it enough time and testing to the control system, cause it leads to nothing but pure frustration.
- The RNG level generator is unpolished. It can create levels that will be impossible to clear, even if you do and did everything perfectly. Which, in a game that really encourages full clears, is simply unfair. It's not generally super common, and of 2 biggest faults, this one isn't nearly as bad as the controls (which make me want to tear my hair out), but just like controls, it feels like the generator just wasn't given enough time to be properly polished
Overall, it's really frustrating. The game is amazing otherwise. Gameplay is simple, but keeps getting more challenging and complex. Clearing next levels is fun. The OST is superb, and deserves way more recognition. The artstyle is so pretty, although it does sometimes lead to really unreadable scenarios (but not often enough to be a big deal). You want to keep going "more more heist".
But the controls simply ruin it all, it's that bad. At this point playing, when I already am really good at the game, I find myself not to be worried about guards killing me, but the shoddy controls, I have to divert quite a bunch of effort to avoid dying to their unfairness. It's just so frustrating
