Major issues with backtracking/travel time, but that's endemic to all metroidvanias (AFAIK).

Responsive controls, intriguing world. The game rewards you well for learning, and the sense of continual improvement is quite enjoyable.

The overdose of backtracking lowers the overall experience for me to 8.5-9/10.


Still a terrific game.

Do not play this if you're a serious modder. The base edition is currently better for all modding purposes.



HOWEVER.


Skyrim SE is considerably better for non-modders, and for modders that are satified with the current SE mods. It runs more slowly (you will take at least a 20-30 fps hit for mod-heavy setups), but I have not experienced a single CTD - which is nothing short of magical.

Adventure game with strong storytelling. It's pacing can be awful; one moment you're dying from boredom, and the next you're dying from panic. Certain choices are almost absurd.

However, all the flaws are easy to overlook. The characters are so...real. I see myself and people I know reflected in them, and the resulting emotional connection is considerable. This is an emotional game. You will come to love these characters. Their actions will impact you, and your actions will impact them.

Do not let this game pass you by.
