banger video game. narrative is not especially compelling but the gameplay is interesting and satisfying. rpg mechanics are present but not at all a primary focus; travel around the map is fine at best and tedious at worst. the combat system is, however, very fun, and allows a lot of skill expression. from a bullet hell perspective many of the patterns are not especially new but the combination of mechanics in place allow even relatively simple fights to be engaging.

visuals are clean and fights are readable (excluding the final boss which very intentionally removes visual clarity as part of the challenge - i was not particularly a fan but the effect is definitely memorable). there is good variation between difficulty levels; i beat the game once on the standard difficulty and once on the hardest. the former felt fair if a little cruel to a new player while the latter was a solid challenge with the experience i had.

strongly recommend at least trying the game out. you will likely understand if the game is for you very quickly.
