Is just a downgrade from vermintide 2, fatshark did not learn from either their mistakes or adjustments over time

Compared to their previous game,

-Inability to choose specific area/biome/location
-Inability to choose specific difficulty
-Inability to choose when modifiers/mutations are applied
-No scoreboard
-No support for solo w/ bots
-Worse itemization scheme (A single weapon reward is terrible, especially when it isn't guaranteed)
-Having to grind currency and watch store rotations is FAR worse than mission rewards giving equipment
-Beyond abysmal performance
-While dead, cannot see HUD elements (Health, ammo, items etc)
-Similar weapon balance problems (Low/no cleave axe weapons useless, weapons like autopistol greatly outperformed by lasguns/bolters/laspistols)
-Less classes than previous game
-Pretty awful loading times on good hardware
-Very bad censor (Opt out) obscures many calls such as sniper, kill, die, and words such as night
-Cannot enable outlines for teammates, awful when game is just dark shades of gray and brown
-Many elites profiles are too similar to generic mob enemies, blend into hordes too much(Scav elites and snipers especially)
-No mod support (Which could have remedied some clientside hud problems)
-Cannot see latency/network stats
-Horrible connection issues, crashes, disconnects etc

Dodging in melee is far easier than in vermintide since enemies do not "skate around" or track as heavily

Chat and groups use character names rather than steam names which is annoying, should be an option or just show actual steam names so you know who you are playing with.

Bad remake by Nightdive

-Inhouse engine reused from their questionable Blood remake

-Default movespeed reduced to 230 units/second, movement physics are neither netquake/quakeworld due to new engine

-The "Crossplay Multiplayer" has no lag compensation whatsoever so it's just not enjoyable unless you live close to everyone you play with

-If you previously installed sourceports/mods/mappacks in the steam directory for it, they're gone

-Performance is beyond unacceptable especially for the new episode added

-Many console commands are changed, renamed or absent due to the new engine

-Other technical problems such as input lag, mouselook issues, crashing, general instability

-Obnoxious amount of startup splash screens

-Bethesda net is cancer and without an internet connection will sometimes lock your game/crash ("Supposedly" being looked into) Pseudo always-online

+Looks better than winquake and older ports

+Original soundtrack by NiN

+/- Dedicated servers (for playing console players without lag compensation)

GOG currently does not have the new update, and also allows for easier individual installations than steam, buy it there if you want a legal copy of quake

If you want an "updated quake experience" play vkQuake instead (supports Vulcan)
https://github.com/Novum/vkQuake

If you want to play vanilla quake or try speedrunning, play JoeQuake
