I'm nearing 900 hours... post 1.4 I am certain I will exceed 1200+, ultimately making this review a little biased, hear me out nonetheless. Growth. You start in a mundane, innocent, or maybe even a benign world. Nothing but some crappy tools and a weird guide. Next you'll be in the mines, discovering your first sense of progress, mobility! Maybe it's hermes boots, maybe it's a cloud in a bottle, or maybe it's a hook from a skeleton. Each little increment of progress in this game gradually gives the player momentum, like compound interest your character becomes more powerful, allowing you to explore more areas, fighting insane enemies and bosses. While still giving so much love to the more humble aspects of the game, with cozy building and fishing mechanics that allows the player to catch a break from all the exciting mayhem and reward them with comfort and exciting loot. With several classes to engage with, you and the gang can take on many foes, and the feeling of teamwork for the challenging enemies is unparalleled or unfound in most games. Allowing you to look back at your journey at how far your characters and your world has come.
