Spoilers Galore about the game, just giving a heads up:

It's like they looked and no mans sky and decided that all that game was missing were some quests and things to collect. From the get go they make you special, they force you to start the game as some random "dusty" miner, on some RANDOM planet, who just happens to be doing a secret dig for some org called constellation. It all starts from a mcguffin that has zero impact on your character. They could've just said they liked how you mined rocks and it would have the same motivation on finding out what these things are even for.

Some of the quests are great, they get you to feel and care for the people in it, but somehow dialogue is WORSE than fallout 4, you have 4 options and 3 of them are agreeing with whoever you talk with besides SOME points in quests where you can pick one of two sides, or a handful of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sub-optimal quest solutions, besides just murdering everyone.

A thousand planets to explore where theres no life on one half of them, and too many outposts on the other.

Skills feel very bad, a few give you unique abilities like disarming with punches or combat sliding, but what good is that when you'll just be shooting people from across the room.

Whoever invented this lockpicking minigame should be forced to complete 10 master lockpicks in a row and given a stale cookie each time. Thats what it feels like to open most locked containers.

Magazines are a joke, some of them give decent boosts but most of them are 1-5% boosts in a random thing. Also good luck finding them as they spawn in weird out of the way spots meaning you either gotta memorize the spots or scour each place like a detective.

Radiant missions are all ok, at least you are not limited to a single one from each terminal. But by the time you may unlock a factions radiant missions, none of them pay well enough to even BOTHER doing. Were talking you'll sell equipment for more than you'd get for blowing up Spacer McPirate III.

Dungeons are so lacking in variety that you will eventually find repeating lore pads from the samey looking place. Not only is this unacceptable, once you've ran through the main quest enough to get some "powers" you've practically seen 3/5 of the varieties, hell the INTRO's zone is the most unique underground mining place.

Companions are bottom barrel, you either have to find a few random guys scattered around who barely say anything, or stick with 1 of 4 copy pasted constellation folks who at least get upset if you just wantonly murder people. But this doesn't matter at all, you can still quite easily build rapport and eventually do their specific quests if you bother to try hard enough. What good is a reputation system with companions if they all like it when you say the same goody things? Like come on.

Outposts are a joke, how we went from tons of flexibility to what style or variant of base we wanted to (SQUARE OR CIRCLE). Is completely over my head. You are basically making fo76 style outposts. They do not exist to have a colony, they exist to pump out infinite resources, and thats it.

Scanning has no purpose, when you fully complete a planet you get survey data you can sell for a OK price depending on the planet, but why bother? Theres no hoorah for fully scouting a system. you'll be given 1000-4500 on most planets, and thats just what they are worth in your inventory. Most stuff is worthless to collect and sell, besides equipment which will dramatically go from low 5000s, to 60k. But good luck ever selling it, because you can't increase peoples money stocks. Yes, the feature in both of their last games is NOWHERE to be seen.

All in all, I would recommend you wait before even looking at this game. The gameplay loop is fun after a while, and lots of people seem to be saying after X amount of hours it gets good. Usually games aren't longer than 30-40 hours, and you can BEAT this one in less than 10 hours if you beeline the main story and only the main story.

The one quality that everyone will notice is how much less buggy the game is, but instead we have starfield bugs like your ship breaking, your character unable to use weapons, npcs slowly dropping through floors....

The creation engine really needs to be pulled of life support.

It takes a very long time to make these numbers go up. Make sure to have a next in the line of your family to inherit this task.
