A classic feeling survival horror with an unparalleled presentation style, an easy recommend to anyone who even sorta likes the genre

I'm not someone who is very good at point and click adventure games, but i love a good psychological horror game and this really ticks all my boxes its got a really good balance of traditional scares and more subtly unnerving stuff, the story is really engaging honestly I love when a game like this gets me theorising about characters and where stuff is going. It has a lot of potential and at the current price is an absolute steal

I feel like a lot of these reviews are either bad faith or based on a couple of the day 1 struggles that aside lets talk about the game. it completely nails atmosphere and tone theres a point where you happen across a hidden valley and i was honestly taken aback by the sight of it, the game is beautiful from the scenery to the weapons and armor to even the weird little creatures that look like oddishes with teeth. The story comes across subtly and honestly i didn't realise how invested i was in the world until i was coming up with theories for what happened in one of the dungeons. overall the problems i have with the game are purely mechanical things i found irksome like the stat loss on death but its the closest thing to a zelda/dark souls game that really captures the feel of exploring those places for the first time and the questionable nature of the npc's really helps solidify that. one last thing all of the voice work is very professionally done and the writing sows seeds of distrust with just about every npc in the game it keeps you guessing and is honestly super fun to unravel this game by itself is worthy of a play, when you realise it was made by 5 people it becomes a staggering achievement and i will certainly have an eye on this studio to see what they come out with next

Legitimately one of the best psychological horror games i've played with a combat element that spirals from a normal everyday trip into the sewers to find your support dog to walking around an SCP esq facility being hunted by ratmen, its a genuinely scary experience made by a Dev that put a lot of love and care into every detail. if you have even a passing interest in a spiritual successor to silent hill id give this one a go

It honestly is already a contender for game of the year for me, the way the plot unfolds and some of the boss fights had me going back just to try them again. and thats saying nothing of the ICONIC soundtrack that i cant get enough of i've never needed a sequel so soon after finishing a game.
