Not every game needs to be competitive. If you want something like that - go play football.

DbD has gone way and beyond to keep "perfect" balance between the two teams, and in doing so, has lost the true essence in making the very genre of a game they try to be.

This game is different, and I can't stress how good this is about the genre. The genre that Texas Chainsaw, DbD, Blackout and other similar titles promise, does not need to be competiive. It needs to be fun. You want when you're a killer, to feel powerful. And you want when you're a human, to feel hopeless and experience adrenaline whenever encountering an enemy, or being chased by one. This title excels at both of these.

The rules are not complex. They're straightforward. There's no convoluted mechanics, and it feels "easy" to just start up a game, play a bit and hop right out.

Both sides are fun. I mean - how wouldn't it be fun, when you can even kill the klowns?

Some Feedback
I have almost 20 hours on the game, the only thing I feel like should be addressed from my experience, are the various melee and ranged weapons the klowns posses - currently bazooka is the top pick for hp damage, That's fine. Instead of nerfing it, make the other options slightly more viable and that'd be great. The reason bazooka really excels, is because it's the only consistent ranged hp damaging weapon. Melee is tough as humans run faster than you. Unless they man-up to you, you won't be dealing HP damage with a melee weapon, but rather trying to turn them into cocoons.

For humans - any pointers that help locate the exits, apart from using a compass, would be amazing.

Game has bugs. My human character several times was unable to use items or throw a ball, after being hit by a clown while holding Mouse 2 to take aim with an item. Obviously, bugs tend to be fixed, so with time, hopefully such hiccups will be entirely removed for a pleasant bug-free experience.

Good game, they fixed the issues with the lobby. It's fun! Only factor to worry about is if players will keep playing this game as it's not F2P like similar titles.

Crappy user interface.

No endless/hidden cellar mode.

There's no pinging. There are markers, but they do not ping/notify the party members of their location or I believe stick to the edges of the screen. There's no more camera dragging with the middle mouse button. That's actually your hotkey for setting a marker.

Going to your inventory on someone else's turn now requires X - 1 amount of clicks at worst, where X is the number of other players.

Stats/attributes are hidden. Viewing your stats now requires doing the above convoluted clicking dance as well. Good luck tracking them for your party members, when you get nice loot and decide whom is the best one to fetch it.

The enemies are still unbalanced when playing with fewer than the maximum players, which is 4.

You still can't see easily the details of each move your friends can make. There's this sidebar featuring the names of your abilities for the person whose turn it is, but that's about it - you're unable to view their details. That only works for yourself.

When playing on a yellowish tint screen to preserve your eyesight, you can't distinguish what token rolled, versus what token is yet to roll. First game NEVER had this issue.

Very, and I mean very, non-intuitive user interface, dare I even say convoluted, especially when spending focus is involved. You need to do 3 to 4 things before you can actually use focus, and you even need to point to the right square/hover over your character if taunting for them to work. After spending them, seemingly switching between skills does not refund them, but once you click on the battle grid, they out of nowhere get refunded. Good luck trying to quickly figure out how spending 1 focus changes the odds for you. You'll have to spam clicks again.

Mind you, all of this was my first 60 minute impression of the game. I'm scared to see what else there is in the store, but I expected a polished, well-done and well-thought game, with a perfect user interface as a minimum, improved upon the game's first release. So far, that's a flop. It seems rushed, like many other games in the industry by corporate greed. They should have launched the game in early access if the quality of work is so low.

Great game, the latest update addresses lots of good things! Developers are listening and responding, what a lovely team!

There are a few kinks to iron out with the cards, but I'm sure in time they'll be ironed out - just remember to report your feedback to the developers!

Game has an amazing potential to surpass Dead By Daylight and be tons of fun. Developers just need to listen to player feedback. I'd hate to see it sink down like Friday The 13th, which was their previous title.

Current list of issues this game has:

Game is heavily victim-sided when the theme is horror and, as such, should be family-sided.

Chain door-stunning — why is there even a door-stun mechanic is beyond me. It makes both sides look ridiculous. Currently, it's a no-risk strategy to door-stun as a victim, as even if you get caught in the stun, you have i-frames, making you invincible. Whereas if the family gets stunned - you guessed it - you're unable to attack.

Grandpa cinematic — when grandpa wakes up, he forces a cinematic that screws with a lot of things. For example, Leatherface's chainsaw revs out of control if you're actively chasing someone. Please remove the darn cinematic and make it happen in the background.

Lobby wait times — frequently waiting up to 5-7 minutes for a lobby to start. Thankfully, the game provides statistics for how much time you've spent playing in-game versus your actual Steam time. Guess the ratio of most players? Mine is 30 hours in-game time, yet I have 68 hours on the record. That means I've been busting my ass in lobbies for 38 hours - queue simulator.

Car battery offwhy do we have to turn on the car battery as family, especially when the team has a composition of family members who do not spawn near it? We don't have time to do the bloody thing, the victims are already out of the basement! Car battery is now on following their 12th September update.

Victims rushing and disregarding stealth completely — current meta is a very toxic rush one. In a single minute, they're already out of the basement, grab a fuse, open the fuse box, and in 2-3 minutes are already escaping. Worst of all, only counterplay to the fuse is to "camp" it, which is boring and not fun. Seriously? Valve escape has a counterplay; why doesn't the fuse box have one?

Johnny is unfinished as a family killer — you have Cook who has padlocks. You have Sissy who can poison items. You have Leatherface who can break obstacles. And Johnny? He's got nothing.

Sissy applies poison on hitthis is not intended, it's a bug, and family players are abusing it. There's a perk that basically slows down a victim by 20% when they are poisoned, and it seems that perk with the bugged poison can stack, effectively rendering a victim paralyzed. This has been fixed following their 19th September update.

Completely useless and missing unique perks — Leatherface has two useless unique perks that I can't fathom anyone ever using. Johnny has a single unique perk that is near F-tier but still usable. No other unique perks, though, unlike other family members who usually have three or four of them.

Toxic player base — this is turning to become a DbD clown fiesta. Every time the victims escape, they wait intentionally near the exit until they get their satisfaction of seeing the family pay them attention. T-bag a little bit? Potentially. Stun you? Potentially, and then finally leave... just why?

Gas Station bad map design — there are two exits near the generator—one requires the generator to be turned off + a lockpick, while the other just requires... a lockpick. Who thought of this crap?

Cross-play "temporarily" removed — the idea behind this was to combat cheaters. How do you combat cheaters when you punish an entire community to fend for themselves against your own cheating problem? In my career playing this, I never encountered a single cheater, so I don't see how this helps ANYONE in that regard.

Hitchhiker traps on ladders — there's a bug that if you get in a hitchhiker's trap near a ladder, you're unable to go through gaps, or interact with crawl spaces and wells. Developers confirmed that there may be other side-effects to this. This persists until the game ends.

They removed my key with no warning!!! What is this!? I paid for this game!

EDIT: Got a replacement key. One of the merchants whom they gave keys to did not pay them back, and so they deactivated the keys. The devs are basically paying us out of their pockets. If this does not deserve an upvote, I don't know what will.

Early Access Review
De-sync issues, memory leaks, game loading problems, lost progress, and an absence of Steam matchmaking or any matchmaking at all - instead opting for a proprietary peer-to-peer system. Is this what "Early Access" has come to?

The person responsible for pushing the team to release this game should be fired. It's clear the game has not undergone thorough testing - within the first day of release, players reported over 100 critical and game-breaking issues.

Simply providing feedback will not rectify the underlying issues plaguing this company - namely, inadequate management and poor leadership decisions. A thorough re-evaluation of their principles is in order, as the current state of the game is a blemish on the "Early Access" label.

Don't misunderstand me - the game has potential. However, charging money for a product that's barely functional is hardly justifiable. The developers should have, at the very least, created a playable game.

As for content, there's not much to experience even for an "Early Access" title - a single chapter that can be completed in under an hour. While the game boasts procedural generation, players aren't even compelled to explore the map. Instead, they can simply charge straight to the chapter's "boss" and defeat it with ease. This situation highlights the immense amount of work needed to entice players to power up, develop meaningful synergies, and create enjoyable playstyles and builds.

In conclusion, the game feels not only rushed but also severely lacking in depth. I sincerely hope the developers don't make the same mistake by rushing the game's full release. However, given what's transpired thus far, it wouldn't be a surprise if history repeats itself.

Do you know how you can tell if a product has been rushed?

When their local couch is actually a real co-op experience, while their supposed online co-op is nothing but a gimmick.

When you're playing online, you're an intruder to the host. You neither gain any progress for playing with them, nor are you allowed to control the ship.

It's a fun game and believe it or not - you'd love to replay it over and over again if you usually are not into that for story-driven games.

The worst thing this game did is partner with Amazon Games.

Everything else? Good.

They had one job and they flopped it.

EDIT: It seems things are finally stable. Matchmaking works, No longer a seagull simulator, waiting to enter the game for 6 hours straight.
