I love playing through this with my wife. We were in awe of all the creative elements thrown into the game. I will return back to hunt all the achievements when I knock out more of my steam library. I nominate this as my GOTY for 2021.

One of the best soundtracks for a game, it really helped build a nice atmosphere combined with the great pixel art. Wish it had more of a story. 7/10

I love pixel art and platformers, but this one just isn't up to par. 3/10 The music is odd and sometimes doesn't fit the game at all. The pixel art for some of the enemies blended right into the levels and killed me a few times. I stopped playing the game after I ran into the endless pit bug that broke my save and was unable to progress.

Very good game, I was shocked by the amount of content. The soundtrack is probably one of my favorites in the chiptune genre. 8/10 Definitely give this game a go if you're a fan of platformers

I loved playing pinball with my dung. 6.8/10 - This game takes about 7 hours to beat if you're not an achievement hunter. Fresh take in a saturated genre. In contrast, I became disinterested in the story 5 hours in.

Here's my pros and cons on Starbound.


Pros :
Space exploration done right.
Amazing soundtrack.
Custom tunes on your pixel instruments.
Graphically polished.
Tons of customizations for your character/ship.
Fun with friends.
Combat system is fun I loved searching for legendary items.


Cons:
Pickaxes are useless.
No hotkey to use a healing item or food item.
The three slots reserved for matter manipulator/wires/painting get in the way when scrolling through your quick-slots
The bosses you fight are in closed off rooms and special zones where you can't modify any of the blocks. ( I thought this was a survival sandbox game).
The only way to save your ingame money ("pixels") is to turn them into blocks and then you need to use those blocks and turn them back into pixels if you want to spend it again.
If you start the quest line playing with a friend and they host the game, the quest line is attached to their universe save and not yours

Neutral:
Hunger system is just meh.
Home planet? Hah! You mean my ship?
Lots of achievements to grind for and the endgame was very boring for me so I stopped playing.


Starbound is similar to Terraria but don't expect it to be a better Terraria.

Starbound does a lot of things really well
But I feel it's missing content and features and added a lot of unnecessary things. I hope there will be more content added in the future but I don't expect any big updates for this game. Overall I give Starbound a 7/10 it was worth the $20 I spent.

Straight up Metroid-like with sick beats. Very fun platformer-Metroid(vania) with lots of challenging enemies. 8/10

One of my favorite platformers. Very simple combat and not too punishing.
Looking forward to going back and playing the other Momodora's 7.5/10
