10/10 game, if you liked King of Dragon Pass or Six Ages 1 you'll like this too. The plot and events are just as good and there are more characters with ongoing arcs so you can keep track of your council members better- I liked how they made some council roles inherited by family members of a previous council member. Food production was a little unclear for a game where starvation plays a much bigger role than in previous installments- sending out parties to Forage using the Map screen, with relevant magical blessings, is essential in the late game or on higher difficulties.

Apart from the dungeon system, a very cute and enjoyable game if you just want to kill 20 hours and have fun- I have fond memories of it- but there are loads of better games out there and even the shop gameplay is incredibly shallow. The dungeons meanwhile are absolutely awful- incredibly simple repetitive gameplay, boss fights at the very end of each 5-level set that are also very simple but if you lose you get sent back to redo 4 extremely repetitive levels, and there are *200 levels of this* if you want to unlock all the adventurers and cutscenes. I've started using CheatEngine to blaze through them so I can see the last couple adventurers and be a completionist (it's not really easier, just faster) and it's *still* going to take me at least two hours.
