A fun romp with comedy, fun game-play, interesting themes and a good story. It was entertaining through and through.

The only downside is that the game is short, roughly 2 hours for me, but it's an incredibly fun 2 hours. The final boss seems to be a problem for some people, but if you take your time and pay attention it's a very fun challenge. The sound track also brings the visuals to a whole new level and there's a nice cinematic flair to the game in some parts that made me smile. As of writing this review, there also seems to be an update with more content on the way which I'm excited to see.

The game is much more enjoyable after the recent patch that adjusted combat to be far less (in my opinion) frustrating and fixed some more major performance issues. It felt way more like Darksiders 1 with upgrades than Darksiders 2 with upgrades and I honestly might prefer that. I was thoroughly enjoying my play time by the end of the game.

That's the tl:dr up top, for more specifics I want to start with all the bashing of the graphics. It looks fine, Darksiders was never the cutting edge of graphics but it has a style and I feel it keeps to it and uses it wonderfully. The story very much surprised me, I very much enjoyed the direction they took Fury in, specifically.

People complain about the loss of the skill tree and all the loot drops and all those crazy weapons from 1 and 2, but the 5 are great and very unique from eachother and they each come with a special ability. You can swap between weapon and the spell it comes with, with ease and I feel people it's not nearly as big of an issue as people make it out to seem, but if you liked Darksiders 2 and not 1, then 3 probably won't be for you.

Performance was pretty good, never went below 40 frames and that was usually when I was entering a large area for the first time and I only got to one of the final areas AFTER the latest patch supposedly fixed hard crashing there so I had no problems there.

I loved the level design, very straight forward with little branching paths to scavange for items to upgrade your character. Loved how it all felt connected, too.

The puzzles that were present in both 1 and 2 are pretty fun in 3 if not too easy. but few and far inbetween.

Overall I'd reccomend it, might not be a 10/10 but it's certainly worth a play at some point.
