My first prison I started was a modest one. I did not have enough funds to build individual cells, so all of my prisoners were stored in the holding cell. After overcrowding, they started to riot; the special SWAT units were no match for the prisoners and most of them escaped. They took my prison away, forcing me to start over.

On my second attempt, I made a conscious effort to build jail cells with every new incoming prisoner. I learned about grants that I could use for extra funds in these endeavors. For a while, I was successful. However, overcrowding became an issue, I was constantly in the red (DANGER), and I couldn't keep up with the demand for prison space. They rioted, killed, and my prison ended up barren. I could not recover.

My third attempt is where I started to succeed. I learned that you could actually turn off the flow of prisoners and accept different types of prisoners. I learned that if you connect two power stations, the entire prison blacks out. I learned that, even though it is expensive, feeding high quality, high quantity meals to your prisoners goes a long way towards keeping them in line. Through work, they can reform and even make you a profit! I am still on this prison, with it being worth over $1 million and having $400,000 in reserves.

This game is about learning. There is no tutorial that teaches you the tips and tricks. After the game opening, you are plopped into a plot of land for you to do whatever you want or can. The fun in this game comes from the failures, it comes from the satisfaction of finally building everything correctly and having a fully-functioning prison that works without you having to lift a finger. There's always something new to learn in this game. As fun as it is now, I can't wait to see where it goes.
