The checkpoints are too far between and there is rarely a chance to heal, resulting in 20+ minutes of progress lost which is a huge amount of time in a VR game. Having to retrace your steps, looting every nook and cranny, stealthily making progress, only to come up against a horde while lacking ammo and get killed in seconds.

I really wanted to like this but it just has too many annoyances that get in the way of pacing.

This is the sort of game that doesn't really get made anymore, it ignores a lot of the iterative improvements of the last 10 years which would streamline the experience. There aren't hundreds of markers on the map, nor is there any easy fast travel, what is here instead is a world that encourages you to go out and explore. Is it a bit of a trek to your destination? Then keep an eye out for a campfire to set up a tent but be ready for the chance of monsters raiding you in the night.

There are thousands of other reviews out there talking about the technical issues, yes this game struggles in major cities unless your rig is on the higher end. There is no way to start a new game without going to the save file directory, it's worth noting that the game encourages you to switch class often so that you get perks and combine classes together.
Also worth noting that nothing in the game is locked behind the micro-transactions, all of these items can be acquired in no time at all just by playing the game.
The technical issues and the lack of making a new character have been acknowledged and will likely be addressed.

In summary, Dragon's Dogma 2 is a very unique game for the better and the worse depending on your preferences!

It's Persona with a Marvel skin. Hang out with the various members of the Midnight Suns and the Avengers, raise your friendship levels with each person, go stargazing with Ghost Rider. Getting stronger friendship levels unlock more abilities for when you go into non grid-based XCOM combat.

But let's be real, 70% of your time will be hanging out with the gang and bathing by the pool. 30% will be main story and combat scenarios.

Honestly one of the biggest surprise hits for me. Well written, genuinely funny, great music, solid gameplay. Don't write this off with the assumption that it's like the Avengers game. Has a similar feel to the Mass Effect series when it comes to the dialogue between characters.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes is great fun, so many characters and alternate costumes, loads of in-jokes referencing scenes from the recent marvel movies. Once finished you help out Deadpool and unlock a whole lot of new missions and characters. Easily one of the best Lego games so far.

Best Karting game of all time? The sense of speed in this game is insane, added by the fact that your kart can transform into a boat or plane mid-race just adds to what kind of challenges the game can throw at you.
