Editing the review after Sony reversed the decision to require a PSN account. Thank you for listening to the concerns of the community.

Helldivers 2 has provided a gaming experience I haven't felt in over a decade: it's pure, no-nonsense fun. The gameplay loop is incredibly tight and rewarding, and hell, I even love the loading screens. This is a game that does not take itself too seriously and just wants you to have a blast dropping bombs on communist robots and fascist bugs. The procedurally generated biomes are diverse and the dynamic community-driven war keeps things fresh even after dozens of hours of gameplay.

The developers are incredible and it's obvious that they care a lot about this game, with regular content updates, communication with the players, and an incredibly refreshing approach to live service. While there are technically microtransactions, you can unlock all content in the game simply by playing, and there are zero pay-to-win features - plus the game is not pushy at all about purchases and it's one of the very few modern games that respects its players.

Other games should take note of the example set by helldivers 2 - you can make a live service game that's infinitely replayable and boatloads of fun without treating your players like a product.

I expect to be playing helldivers 2 for a good long time. I love democracy.
