I'm still pretty early on so I haven't yet enjoyed all the game has to offer. But so far it checks all the right boxes.

Big, fat levels that yet are hard to get lost in
Decently punchy guns and LUDICROUS GORE as a reward for a few well placed headshots
Enemies will have you thinking about your positioning pretty often, as they *will* approach from multiple angles and mess you up.

Being the cheapskate that I am, I have never been a fan of the idea that a game can be so cheap you can't possibly go wrong by buying it.

Why say this?
Because Zortch's strength is not its (extremely generous) price point

It took a moment to figure out *what* made this game click, but once I got in the groove of using all the alt-fires and mobility options at my disposal, combat became fun - and pushing through the three episodes no longer a chore

The game is fairly short and stays sweet throughout, I definitely recommend checking it out if you're intro retro shooters

I don't click with the way it tries to do its things.

Mandatory PSN account requirement, no obvious indication as to it being the exception and not the rule.

The best just got better thanks to ZOOM Platform's Collector's Edition fixes - this also means GFWL is no longer an issue!

An upgrade over FlatOut 2 in many ways, including Carnage mode, Deathmatch derbies and more AIs on screen.

Here's hoping for that LAN support patch!

Chaos is restless in Oaxaca.

Somewhat janky first person RPG that is full of charm, heart, and clever story moments

I don't enjoy RPGs usually, but, this game offers plenty of fun for those of us who MUST explore every inch of a given area for small secrets nad loot, uncovering as much fun dialogue as possible and getting lost in a sea of irradiated sidequests

Gunplay is somewhat reminiscent of the original Deus Ex but character skills , decent damage values from the get-go and gear progression always give you the tools to deal with most of the game's challenges ( this is also where some jank, a.k.a. "creative thinking" can come into play )

All of this at a bargain price - the game has been on Steam for ages, runs* on Steam Deck ( with some performance problems likely related to proton ) and STILL gets patches today

Works well on modern systems thanks to the efforts of ImageCode et al - career does feel like quite a slog towards the end and AI is not as well balanced as I remember

Surprisingly dynamic open world game for its time, with a story that ends with a really weird twist

The Steam version sits in some really odd patch limbo, but I have crashed exactly once in roughly 30 hours of gameplay (upon loading a quicksave)

This game puts the "Overkill" in Ridicolous

Chainsaws ♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere, an ion orbital cannon and an instagib revolver that makes Dirty Harry's look like a toy
