A big thumbs up for this game. Here are a few of my thoughts...

...I like it, a lot.

TL/DR...which means too long; don't read. I think. :<)

This is a very fine simulation. There is enough complexity to keep me going, and I like the procedurally generated maps as well.

Industry Giant 2 had fixed maps, and when you "solved" them, you're done. Here, there is a tremendous amount of re-playability.

This last game I started earlier today, I felt compelled to do a full hours' worth of analysis before I took ANY action. There is a solid strategic layer beneath the tactical game.

This game isn't perfect, and the developer will tell you as much. There are some balance issues, which I am sure will be addressed. At this time, you can't start your career play with the ability to produce all the goods..they need to be unlocked, and this is a relatively slow process. But...there is a sandbox mode with full unlocks for those that like that type of gameplay.

The AI is aggressive, and is borderline unfair in the speed they develop. Perhaps it's just me, but I had to really hustle to keep up. I will say that I started the game in medium or middle difficulty, unusual for me. Generally I will start on baby mode, but the clean interface and solid tutorial support gave me sufficient confidence to try a more difficult setting.

It is very gratifying to have a plan, execute the plan, and have the plan work. Like most builders/sims, it's a slow start, but eventually you will have the ability to create a mammoth empire. This is the payoff of the game.

All things considered, this is one of the best sims on Steam. Not perfect, but very good, and getting better.

What a nice little game!

I am very pleasantly surprised at just how much fun this little dungeon romp is!

I like the loot system, I like the combat system, and I like the simplicity of the game play.

This isn't to say that there aren't choices to make. There are tons of choices, each of which have a strong impact on your parties' success.

Really, really good game for the money...and one that I just cannot recommend highly enough!

I want to like this game..I really do. But, I have the same complaint that many players do. I can micro the bejeesus out of my forces, and play a PERFECT game, and STILL get my ass kicked in.

This is no fun, and I will never play this again until the game balance issues are addressed.

DO NOT BUY AT THIS TIME.

Back in the day, I played this game for hundreds of hours. This was my go-to game for a couple of years.

Here's what I like most about this game..using bullet statements for clarity.

--This is a deep, complex economic simulation, that remains accessible and playable.
--With more than 60 product types, there is room to try a number of different strategies..a virtual unlimited combination of products to develop and sell
--The research for each product adds a new dimension to the game. Building crappy sweaters? Research the production technology for sweaters, and increase the overall value.
-- ... or increase the spending on brand awareness, and increase the overall value of the sweaters.
-- ... or research better farming technology, and develop higher quality wool
-- ... or increase the training in your sweater factory, and lower the price of the sweater, and still make the same profit by increasing the number sold
-- ... or increase the training of the department stores that sell it, or better still build an apparel store downtown, and be more efficient in selling the sweater
-- ... or simply purchase lower quality sweaters from the seaports, slap your new label on them, restrict the brand for your crap sweaters so as to not eff up your other brands, and make a TON of money

This is just a small sampling of the actions YOU can take in capitalism plus.

Here's another example..one I highly recommend you use, to start your new empire. Look for a timber stand, under 5 million dollars. Buy it, and set up a logging operation. Set up a factory immediately next door to the timber stand, and build beds. All it takes is wood, and this will decrease the transportation costs. once you are making beds, build a store in the city nearest to the factory, and start selling them. Adjust the selling price to maintain a competitive edge over the local competition, and you're set. Over time, as you gain additional monies, increase your production of beds, and sell them to all of the cities in the game. This will take a year or two.

Then, you can branch out, by setting up leather as the next resource, using farms. Leather and wood? Furniture...and this would strongly complement your other industries. You will even be able to make them in the same factory.

I could go on at a great length on how absorbing and immersive this outstanding game is. I can recall games where every tick to the next day gave me MILLIONS of dollars, where I had 10 enormous research facilities researching all KINDS of products, and were the decision to attempt to break into a mature market for a new product took YEARS of game time to set up.

GREAT game...this is a must-buy, one that I just cannot recommend highly enough.

What a good game this is! I am in my third season, and have been promoted from League 4 to 3 to now to league 2.

I fully expect to get creamed..as I have been taking most of the money I am making and upgrading my stadium. This will allow me, over time, to make even more money, and to be competitive at the higher leagues.

The tactics feel just about right. There are 24 "turns" per half, and you get three turns to either score, or be forced to give the ball up to the other team.

There are times when aggressive play and getting shots on goal are more preferred to try to hold onto the ball, or to dribble into the teeth of the defense. It all depends on your opposition, the score, the situation, or how bad you need to win! If you are ahead on aggregate 2-1, in the second leg of the FA Cup (or this games' equivalent), it may be better to play keepaway from the other team.

All things considered..I have a TON of new games, including some excellent AAA titles...and I am playing this one instead! Buy this game. Now. If you're reading this, then this means you are a football fan. If you're a football fan, then simply pull the trigger and buy this game. It looks cheesy and arcadey, but the developers really have a nice vision for this game, and the gameplay is excellent. Buy it. Now.

I have played this game about as much as any other game ever, not named Railroad Tycoon II or Civilization.

Nothing like cruising along at 198 feet at 40% power, with enemy fighters all around you, while you carefully..slowly, head for home.

This game is the best flight sim I have ever played. The graphics are 20+ years old, for sure..but the gameplay!

If you have ANY interest in the genre, treat yourself to this game! It also has the advantage over the Good Old Games version in that the look up copy protection is disabled. This was a pain in the but..as you had to correctly identify an airplane from the manual...and this meant you had to print out the manual, and they hope the quality of the print was good enough to tell the planes apart!

I highly recommend this game. I have finished this, start to finish, three times of 99 missions each.

This is a good game. The classes are good, and it has a very good loot system. My little wood elf has a wide assortment of special moves to use, and if anything, seems just a little over powered at this time.

This game appears to have a lot of depth to it..I am only about six hours in, and I am level 9. Not sure how long this game is..looks to be pretty lengthy.

I'm not big on reviews, but I am going to give a shot for this one.

First, I am a big fan of the genre, turn-based tactical combat. I own most of the turn-based games currently on Steam, and I could this as one of the finest.

I will make a series of bullet point statements, adding support and flavor where necessary.

--The random map generation system is excellent
--The random force generation system is also excellent
--You can generate true random forces or you can select your specific army from about thirty, and tweak it
--Similar to Field of Glory, each army has a base amount for unit type, and a maximum you can spend for other specific unit types. No buying only elephants with your build points!!
--The smallest army you can create is 100 points. This will get you from one to three units.
--I am not sure what the maximum is...I THINK it is entirely possible to have as many as 100,000 troops on each side, with well over a hundred individual units
--Units range in size from half a dozen light cannon, up to over 2000 men in a single unit.
--Calvary is well-modeled, and the scale of the game, as far as movement, feels about right. If anything, light Calvary moves pretty fast
--Flanking is effective, and realistic
--Units in melee combat cannot disengage. This is both realistic, and painful if you're the one getting hammered!
--Tactics of the day are rewarded. Standing off with your ranged units to weaken an enemy formation is effective.
--Map sizes can be gi-normous, with the largest map as large as 4,096 squares.
--A decent battle will have 10-20 troops one each side..with troop/terrain ratios as much as 100:1. There is no issue finding room to flank, or to use terrain to your advantage
--It is certainly possible to select a narrow frontage (18 squares) with two large armies, and slug it out frontally
--The editor has an easy to use, and VERY complete map and unit placement function. You can create just about any battle or terrain set imagineable with this feature
--Part of a scenario creation is to provide it with a campaign name. You can generate multiple campaigns, or multiple battles within a campaign quite easily
--Soon, VERY soon, there will be lovingly crafted campaigns out the ass, to be easily downloaded
--The modding community with these types of games is active, and brilliant. God bless these guys!
--Slamming home your elite troops against the unprotected and undefended rear of an enemy is more fun than should be legally allowed!
--Very nice statistical recap of your battles, after the match
--I am playing on the easiest level currently, because I suck at games in general. I am winning every time, but not by as much as I thought I would.
--There are several more difficulty levels. No way in hell will I ever be able to beat the highest difficulty level
--Graphics are good, even very good for this game.
--Modders are improving the graphics..already, on the Slitherine site are improved unit graphics. It took ... one day after release
--The developer of this game is brilliant, and very, very active within the community
--Right now, the focus is relatively narrow across history. This will be fixed, with expansion packs. This will rock the house, even more than it already does
--No hangups, no glitches, no slowdowns, no lag, no crashes...the game is rock solid steady, and works perfectly

My rating, right now, is a 9 out of 10. The only issue that would make it a ten is the lack of a random generated campaign, and of the inablity to randomly select your opposing force for a skirmish battle. You can random both formations, or you have to manually select both formations. The developer has promised this upgrade to the functionality, and I suspect it will happen very soon.

Very, very solid game, with excellent replayability and staying power. This will stay on my hard drive for a very, very long time.

I am very much enjoying this game. There is surprising depth here. I am in the Iron Age, having successfully completed the Bronze Age. I like how you have the ability to go back and review each person in your dynasty. You really get the sense that old great-grandfather was something special, when you see his achievements. Highly recommended, nice, turn-based strategy game.
