I streamed this for some friends on Discord. One described it as "unwatchable" and another screamed in disgust.

If you like character action, don't miss out on this. Possibly the best in the genre.

A cute little shmup. The difficulty is about on par with QP Shooting - Dangerous!!, the game this is as spinoff of, but it starts off at the difficulty of that game's later stages. If you liked QP Shooting Dangerous, you'll like this.

Also, you can transfer your save data from said game to unlock all of the formations you had unlocked, so you don't have to work to unlock them again.

If you're interested in this one and haven't heard of the other one, I suggest checking that out first.

A cool little thing this comes with that's not mentioned in the description: If you clear both campaigns, you unlock an extra level. Clearing it gets you another map with a cool-looking background. Pretty nice.

Anyway, yeah, both of these characters are fun. Expect Sweet Breaker to get nerfed at some point, though. Star Breaker, on the other hand, is balanced - and honestly my favorite "combat" character at this point.

I played the Japanese version of this before the steam version came out, and it was one of my favorite games ever. That still rings true for this version.

The game's mechanics are intuitive, well-thought-out, and well-designed. The stages and enemies are well-designed. The bosses each have their own unique traits that give them their own identity. The large variety of weapon combinations gives you a bunch of different ways to play the game. Et cetera.

As a note, if you played Suguri (a previous game by this developer) and liked it, ABSOLUTELY buy this. This is Suguri but better.
If you're going to buy it for the 100% Orange Juice bonus character, well, that's fine (Military Sora's a neat character), but it's more worth it for the game than the character!

The DLC isn't even out but I can still write a review for it. So hey, why not?

I know I'm gonna give it a thumbs up anyway.

A pokemon-like RPG that lacks what made Pokemon great.

The battle mechanics are shallow, not particularly unique, and overall just kinda boring. I found myself wanting to push on not because I found the game fun, but because I wanted to just get it over with already. That's not a good feeling for a game to have.

There's also not any real difficulty other than RNG and forced grinding. The campaign is pretty short, and would be even shorter if it didn't force you to level grind -a lot- before bosses (the final boss in particular).

Status effects, unlike Pokemon, can't really be dealt with in any way. If you're paralyzed, you can't even switch out - you basically have to watch as the opponent beats up on your character for several turns. On top of that, there's only one type - immobilization/paralysis. And it's boring.

I really wanted to like this game. I love Orange Juice. They made Sora, one of my favorite video games of all time. This may actually be the first bad game they've produced.

If you buy this game expecting the fun and longevity of 100% Orange Juice, or the genius game design of Sora, you will be sorely disappointed. Keep in mind - this is OJ's first venture into the RPG genre, so you can't expect perfection, but... It lacks the things that make RPGs good. The only real reasons to get this game are the 100%OJ character that comes with it and the opportunity to learn a little bit more about OJ's characters.
