Sucked-in and can't stop playing. This is one seriously high-octane, controller-squeezing game. You feel real accomplishment beating each level or boss, but you get to feel it all over again trying to perfect-rank every mission, and then you get it all over again in New Game +, and then you get it AGAIN trying to Ace NG+. If you're exhausted playing all that content, the arcade mode is seriously good fun.

Story is seriously good; I cried at both endings. No spoilers but R-TYPE fans will catch a lightbulb early-on.

Gameplay is... whew, so good. I am a particularly big fan of the fact that every weapon has a genuine role and there isn't a single choice of weapon that dominates the rest. The loadout screen feels like a "loadout screen" and not a progression tracker.

Overall 10/10. Get this in your library; it's one I know I'll be able to pick-up anytime.
