This was a tough one to rate. All-in-all, I believe the pros outweigh the cons and for that, I do recommend Darktide.

I'm not usually one to purchase a game on release, but Darktide's trailer and gameplay hit all the right notes. I am also not coming from a Vermintide 2 background as so many reviewers are; a "tide" virgin if you will, in awe of how seamless switching between ranged and melee combat is. There it is, the core gameplay experience is phenomenal, the visual design is jaw-droppingly magnificent, and that soundtrack is *chefs kiss* a banger.

However, outside of that core experience is...lacking. I'm confident Fatshark will eventually right all the wrongs in future patches, but it's not right now and many people are (rightly) upset about it. My personal largest issues are there needs to be less RNG-with-timer on weapons, more late game content (prestige system!?), and even more maps and mission types.

Until then, I'll be dutifully pushing back against the hordes in Tertium.

Totally worth the price of $20, hell, its probably worth $30+. Just gather up a bunch of friends, and watch as mayhem erupts every round. Purchased it, and never regretted it (unlike some other games...).
