Rocksmith 2014 is way more responsive and fun than the origonal. You won't learn much if any musical theory through rocksmith, just where to put your fingers and what sound it makes. Its a good starting point to spike interest in beginners and have fun doing it. I don't really fancy how it teaches you songs though, I find looking up the tab and figuring it out on your own is more fast and a better way to learn. Session mode is the highlight of the learning tool for me, letting you jam along with a virtual band in any key you like, even the weird modal and minor scales. Combined with the tone customizer you're in for a lot of fun. I'd pick it up while it's on sale and play around with some of the features and maybe check out some of the lessons. You just might learn something.
