I give the base game a thumbs down, but the DLC and the original melee system saves it just barely (the melee system is good enough that it would be good in medieval fantasy games like Oblivion). On discount with the DLC, it is not a bad game, if you like zombie survival horror and a single player experience. L4D is a much better multiplayer experience in my opinion.

Pros: original and interesting setting, creative melee-based zombie combat with fast and slow zombies, open world environment, pretty environment, detailed props and map design, and interesting rpg and upgrade systems.

Cons: buggy--particularly with walls and zombies glitching through walls, and mostly boring NPCs and quest-lines. Bright happy environment barely disturbed by corpses, blood and zombies, with hardly any kind of sense of survival urgency (apparently food / thirst / sleep aren't a problem here) makes for a boring experience after a few hours.

Overall this game feels like the developers just wanted to do a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. / Fallout zombie mod with a heavily re-designed combat and crafting system. They wrote an interesting back story and setting, but the NPCs don't tell much of a story with their fetch quests (while the NPCs all camp in forts, drunk or sobbing), and there aren't any interesting scripted events, just some rare cutscenes. You can do a fetch quest, or just explore. Exploring gets boring though, and eventually it is obvious that they planned for people to mostly run from the zombies and not keep exploring the same areas looking for clues, because when you do, the areas are basically reset (looks to be on spawn timers) without any kind of randomness.

Also for a zombie game there are tons of blood and carnage. It is realistic, but at the same time it is very repetitive, especially when zombies spawn exactly the same way, frequently, as if they are being resurrected by a supernatural force. The game becomes a tactical zombie fight simulator (break an arm, drown them in a pool of water, lure them into electrical cables, improvise a chainsaw, climb up where they can't run and then kick them in the face / throw knives at them, or shall we trip them and curb-stomp / kneel and brass knuckle them in the face, etc.. etc...).

The DLC from the point of view of the ADF Colonel rectifies most of the flaws (except the wall-glitching zombies) by making the game more like Resident Evil / Doom (detailed story, dark atmosphere, mostly linear adventure) but takes away the sandbox and RPG elements.

Great sandbox action-adventure-RPS game that plays pretty well on the PC compared to other such games.
But warning, you need a bit of an 'adult' and sometimes zany sense of humor, and appreciate Hollywood action movies (physics and screenwriting).

This game is heavily inspired by the Grand Theft Auto games, but succeeds at being original with good voice acting, cutscenes, storyline, and pushing the edge with original mini-games and weapons.

The online multiplayer seems to not work at all for me, but the single player is good enough.

This is the only game that simulates detailed reloading at least three types of pistol / revolver guns. That alone makes it very unique.

The game is primarily a mixture of pistol-reload simulator, stealth game, tactical room clearing, and a tiny bit of exploration. The goal is to complete the exploration mission while clearing rooms of bots. The bots are somewhat frustrating, especially those bots that fly and zap you with lethal tasers. Thankfully some of the bots aren't mobile...yet.

It is mostly polished game that feels a tiny bit unfinished, but acceptable for $1 to $5. The coding could definitely use a little bit more optimization as it tends to lag, which makes the game excessively challenging to survive. The level design is slightly repetitive but has an interesting architechural design, although it appears to take place in an urban skycraper. The level design makes good use of atmospheric lighting to create a sense of direness.

Also note: you may need to seek out the cheat codes to get full use out of this game.

CS:GO Review
Takes adjusting to if you are used to military sims, but competive mode becomes addicting once you start mastering the game mechanics and map strategies.

Tons of game modes from multiple joke-y game mode to serious ranked matches that require coordination and strategy.

But basically a game about killing the other team with guns, knives, and grenades.

Early access, counter-intuitive controls. Flipping Tables is easier than flipping quarters right now*. Looks promising though.

This program is truly Early Access, don't believe the hype about it being fully functional for all game modes. RPG-kit is just barely implemented. Many actions can only be performed one-handed, which makes them amusing, but isn't truly efficient as a physical simulation of playing board games.

However, for the most part you can play some typical parlor games alright, such as checkers, chess, poker, cards, and backgammon.

This program will potentially be awesome when it's basic controls are perfected and its customization is easy through editors and the Steam Workshop.

A fun way to make your avatars!

And then there is the "Trouble in Terrorist Town" game mode. A pretty odd and amusing game mode about subertfuge, paranoia, and criminal investigation.

Or spawn in strange-looking AI bots and allies and replay Half-Life 2 levels.

If you get good at coding, you can try programming an original game mode.

The open sandbox mode seems too buggy to me to make new gadgets though.

A mod to play Half-Life 2 and HL2 mods in cooperative mode. Official servers support up to 10 players. A little bit buggy but a lot of fun.

This game is broken. An interface bug makes it impossible to progress past an early calculator sequence.

Completely not recommended for even $0.02.
