Best 2D Games Design Software bar non. I have been using since the Mark Overmars days. Its a excellent, easy to use system. You can use basic EVENTS / ACTION if you aren't a coder, right through to scripts which are C# like. It even has a fairly decent sprite developer built in. Don't use for 3D stuff as gamemaker can't compete with UNITY or UDK. But for 2D gamemaker is great for beginners right up to advanced. Even export to IOS and/or Android apps.
