They rewrote a large amount of the game from movement to tech tree to nerfing Aliens alot. It's way different from free weekend. I don't like most of the changes, and neither do most of the people I play with. My NS2 friends list has either mostly moved to combat servers or stopped playing. The game is largely being kept alive by constant sales. Game appears to be losing over a thousand people a week during the sales.

They put one guy in charge of the whole balance who only listens to a few players. Some of the developers weren't even aware of the changes being made. The game has problems from severe imbalance to basic corporate information sharing.

It's really quite sad how badly the developers are destroying their own game.

Oh damn. You bought NS2. Ug..developers kind of screwed the game up. So much so that lots of players have simply stopped playing the regular game.
