I have to admit, I didn't expect this to be what it was at all. And after the first couple of minutes, I really came to love this title.

Every decision you have to make has a time limit, and you have to weigh it all, because there's always that chance that the decision you're making is truly important. Some of the decisions must be made in the middle of an action sequence, and I think that's where this game shines: a reflexive action can have consequences, and I'm not used to seeing that play out in games at all.

The game does a great job of balancing when you can control your character, as well as when quick time events, or other segments when you have very little time to perform an action, pop up. This meant that I was always engaged in what was going on, and the timed nature of certain elements makes sure the game keeps flowing; if you're one of those people who is used to battling out the consequences of a single action (like me when I'm playing Tactics Ogre) before making a decision, this game forces you to go against that mindset, and keeps you on your toes.

I have to say, the way that the game's areas are planned out is really clever; there's always a general pathway that you take, but it keeps things moving instead of bottlenecking the pace, and really drives the narrative. The only hiccup I found involved a sequence where you had to pull some levers, and the clicks didn't always select the lever I was clicking on. Other than this one flaw, I can't think of anything I don't like about the game.

The first episode delivered a lot of satisfying content, and I was hopelessly attached to the main character's trusty pig companion. It's elements like the pig, the camaraderie between the main group, and just the general way the characters in the world acted that brought me back to those older movies that made me feel great when I was a kid. It has that charm, but it's all delivered in a way that both adults and younger audiences alike can thoroughly enjoy.

I haven't played a game this heartwarming or exciting in a long time, and I really can't wait to see what the future has to offer. If you decide to buy this, I hope you find as much enjoyment out of it as I did.

I never got to forge a star, and was quite disappointed.
