The idea was nice but apart from the running gag about the dumb woman driver, which I seriously could have done without, the cars in game seem to have been designed by someone who's looked carefully at pictures of car parts but never actually worked on a car. Exhaust manifolds which bolt to the engine block rather then the head and which cant be removed without disassembling the entire exhaust system first. Front engined RWD cars with transversely mounted engines. Brake systems with no master cylinder and induction systems with no injectors or throttle body. Suspension arms that bolt rigidly to the spindles with no ball joints. Batteries and suspension arms that can be rebuilt at a workbench (just let me get my hammer...). The list goes on. So a cute idea, but they should have perhaps involved an actual mechanic. I'm still kind of curious about the sequel but I won't be paying full price for it.
