Simply put, the game itself is fantastic, nearly everything I could have wanted in a reimagining of the of the original game and much more.

The DLC shop can easily be ignored, I wish it wasn't there at all, but it is and so the best thing for me to do and to suggest to everyone else is to not engage with it if it truly displeases you. With the exception of the DD1 music/sound pack and the heartfelt pendant being exclusive, everything else is very easy to obtain through crafting, exploration, or in-game gold/earned rift crystal purchases. None of the DLCs are worth the money, and are all consumables that can be very quick to exhaust as one-time-only things.

I very much recommend the game, but I understand that the asking price is higher than others would like it to be, so waiting for a sale or finding discounts would be my suggestion. DD2 is packed full of content and discoveries throughout your adventure in new game and seemingly infinite new game+ afterward. The DLC should be the absolute lowest priority reason to not get into and enjoy the game, but you are justified in calling it out as a bad practice, because it very much is. Ignore it and encourage your friends to do the same and it helps discourage such as a potential monetization scheme going forward.

My favorite game of 2022, highly recommend it for its silly-yet-sweet story, charming art style, very chill pacing and multitude of unlockable accessories & tools. It received a New Game+ update back in August of '23, so I'll definitely be revisiting this wholesome game again!
