I have purchased a large pile of 'roguelike' games on Steam, because apparently I am a masochist and enjoy being angry at my computer. Almost all of them turn out to be terribly flawed.

I randomly happened upon a livestream of this game on Twitch, and ended up watching it with growing surprise. This game is already surprisingly fun, and deep, despite being 'Early Access'. There is a very well-crafted mix of luck/chaos and skill involved, with careful tweaks preventing you from ending up spawning into certain death. I consistently feel that when I have died, it was because I made a mistake, not because the game procedurally generated an impossible scenario.

The weapons are insane, and the sound design is quite good. The various playable characters are, at times, very different from each other, and each has a different set of mutations you're hoping to get, for maximum mayhem-synergy.

The controller support is still pretty wonky, so I play it with the mouse. This may or may not be the case still when the game is final.

The game currently resets which characters are unlocked at each update, but honestly, I look forward to this; each update is bringing nice enhancements and new weapons.
