Uh I have played Lost Ark for 3500 hours, So this will be an interesting/ HONEST review. The game is closing in on 1 year old for NA/EU so keep this in mind as I speak my opinion about this game.....

Where to start..... Lost Ark was a game that I had first seen a gameplay trailer for KR back in like 2015, me and the squad were SOOOO HYPE about this game I cannot lie. Was this the Diablo killer we were waiting to play? Years down the road we now have it in our hands getting to experience a game that has been out for years before us.

When first playing Lost Ark at launch the "magical feeling" was present - kinda like a honey moon phase per say. The phase where everything was exciting, new, and fresh. Your homies were all in it, hype af and ready to play every moment they got a chance to! Right??? Ya well that phase lasted about 2 -3 months because the daily chores you feel obligated to do dissolves that feeling away shortly after you reach the tip of endgame and start the REAL grind. You would think new updates and new classes introduced to the game would help ease the unexciting and dull dailies you do to keep up with the current content would rejuvenate the freshness ...... Nah sadly if it does its very short lived - To even get a new character caught up with the pack is a grind. Powerpass, Hyperpass, Expresspass, Punicapass, Megapass, Ultrapass, Gigapass!!!! Doesnt matter how its worded its still all a tedious grind to the top - "The Hamster wheel keeps turning" as my best friend likes to tease us few still playing...... lol

Listen I genuinely enjoy Lost ark and everything it presents - I also genuinely dislike a lot of things that it brings. I will just touch on a few from each side.

Whats good ?
- Gameplay. - Lost Ark has some of THE BEST raiding content I have ever been a part of. It doesn't get much better then this currently. Lost Ark has some on THE BEST visuals from a game running on an old engine. UE3 I think? Lost Ark has some of THE BEST Character Identities I have seen In a game recently.

- Mass amount of content - Lost ark has a C R A P ton of content available to players from start to finish. Like more then I am personally WILLING to go hunt for, track down, and complete. Like its a lot!!!!!


Whats Bad ?
*Some of this will be hard to put in words to where others who might not have played it yet or play its as much will understand.*

- The games Core Design -
Ok, Lost Ark is VERY VERY poorly designed to introduce and bring in new players..... I feel like once the game reached a specific amount of content added to the base game, it is now EXTREMELY hard on new players/characters to be mixed in with the current pool of players who have been playing since launch.

All the shear amount of intricate things needed to be "Accepted" in the raiding scene, (which is the biggest highlight of Lost Ark dont forget!!!) is near impossible for new players to obtain and jump in with friends or even experience the game properly...... New Account? Low Roster level? "Nope" gatekept! Character doesnt have all +lvl7 gems or higher? "nope" gatekept! Your character is level 52.45 not max level 60?! "Nope" gatekept! You dont have Grudge lvl3 ? "Nope" GATEKEPT! You dont have 5x3 BiS engravings? "Nope" G A T E K E P T. Keep in mind this is just a handful of many more problems this game has when it comes to the Vertical content pushing, every single one of these issues isn't like you can get all these fixed in 24hours - No its a grind. Month at BEST for a new player maybe even longer..... I mean unless you swipe...... Legally or Illegally and Im not opening that flood gate...... -_-

I dont blame the people who are gatekeeping - I blame the way the game is designed and its poor in many ways on that note. "Great Vision - Poor Delivery"

- Anti-Cheat system -
The anti-cheat system used in the NA Version of Lost Ark is so bad its sad. Like Depressingly Sad. not sure how else to put it.

- Bots -
Bots run Rampant in the game, Amazon has yet to figure out a solution to clean it up and remove them in our version of the game. So it genuinely sours the early to mid gameplay experiences new players have when they have their first play through....... You will see many characters named Yyyggdsfdfghesfdf running around on horseback with the new mokoko tag next to their name stating they are a fresh account. Yep. -_- What makes this a sticky fix, is the fact that this is Free to Play, you can ban wave thousands of bots - give them 48 hours and they are sprawling back to farm up gold.


At the end of the day Lost Ark is a Dope game, that has A LOT of room to grow in the western client. But also has a lot of problems that get swept under the rug with greedy game design. I also understand this game is developed by another culture and that's partly just a way of life in some parts of the world. But I also can play a game for almost 4k hours and see glaring holes that need to be fixed or filled to boost a games integrity from a player base POV.

Its really hard to give an Honest review like this when you have invested time like this in a game. But for what its worth, I give this game a 6/10 ONLY because it has so much good going for it. If AGS and Smilegate would genuinely crack down on the problems and commit to the issues the game has my review and rating would be vastly different.

Hope this helps people who have never played but also people who are still currently playing for better or for worse.

1k + hour player - Dope, Dope, Dope. Dope Concept, Dope Art Style, and Dope Community. WE are SMALL, but its all Dope! Lol no seriously though. Game has sooooo much potential its just lacking in production speed. I hate that's the case because it could really blow up. Would hate to see a game like this die. But aye solid 8/10.
