Every time I play an ARPG I inevitably compare it to Diablo 2, which from my point is still today the best and most influential ARPG ever created. Somehow thinking about Diablo 2 usually makes me look down on other games, but Victor Vran is different game. This is a great game for one simple reason: it's tremendously fun to play.

Just like in a few other modern games, you don't get to choose among different classes. Instead, your skill set depends on the weapon you use, which I find pretty cool. That means that when you're tired of a certain play-style you can just choose a different weapon and that's it. That's also good for another reason, which is that each level has a number of challenges you can complete if you want and some of them require you to use a specific weapon, which you can all do with the same character.

As for customisation, or what makes your character different from others, there's only gear. You've got a transmutation system which is quite similar to Diablo 2's Horadric Cube, where you combine some items and get a new one. This way you can upgrade your weapons.

Something I really like playing with is Destiny Cards, which you can equip and obtain certain passive abilities. I like using different ones depending on the situation, e.g. boss fights or aoe fights.

Overall I think it's a complete game with lots of things to do thanks to challenges and it's certainly not too complex, so you can actually start enjoying it right away.
